STORY

The last great nymph trainer was a man named Malami. He was your grandfather, and he was killed by the royal guards. It’s up to Cosmo (you) to carry on his dream. You must resurrect The Goddess to save the world!

The story begins with Cosmo and the nymph Frea traveling the world searching for other nymphs to join their group. Each nymph has a unique character design and personality.

The game features 44 different nymphs. You only get to know them on surface level, making your relationships with them flimsy at best. The conversations you have with the girls don’t get emotional, or deep.

The writing style is light-hearted, but not adverse to sudden mood flips. The atmosphere can switch from happy to sad on a moment’s notice. One moment you’re reading  shameless sex jokes, the next moment your grandfather is dead. The music cuts to silence, the happy days are now over.

The visual presentation clashes with the serious tone of the story. It’s very confusing for a game to feature such serious themes when cute girls are running around in a lush, colorful world sucking dicks on a whim. It’s hard to feel like you’re in any real danger. It’s like the writer and artists weren’t communicating during the creative process.

Sometimes, when you interact with certain objects, the writer goes completely off topic and wastes your time. Like when you examine a wishing well, suddenly the textbox fills with a rant about the erosion of civil liberties.

GAMEPLAY

Shards of Eradine was created with Unity and lacks common visual novel functions. There is no dialogue skip button, you cannot hide the text boxes to admire the artwork, and you cannot reverse dialogue.

If players can look past that, the sheer amount of content in this game is absolutely incredible. With 44 nature nymphs in 100 map locations, you’ll be sinking hours into this grand adventure to catch them all!

The gameplay is the exact same formula as Pokemon, just with adult content. All nymphs have three evolution stages. You catch them in their stage one form. At the third stage, you can fuck them!

The nymphs will start putting out at level 15, so you’ll be grinding a while if you want to see them all naked. And sometimes, this grinding is mandatory, like when you got a main-line quest to clear 6-8 enemies in an area.

Other negative gameplay features include slow movement speed, slow animations, no manual saving (autosave only), and a lack of a mini-map. The game world is so huge, all of these things combine to create an annoying slog.

GRAPHICS

The art comes in a variety of unique styles without a consistent theme. Sometimes the girls are drawn with human-like proportions, but there are other times where they look thin as toothpicks.

The in-game sprites are all in a chibi anime style. Beautiful hand-drawn landscapes make up the background. The color palette is bright and vivid, creating a joyful feeling, even when terrible things happen in the story.

This game is heavy on animation, with practically no aspect of it relying on still images. From fully animated titfucks to swinging your sword baddies, every movement in this game is animated with tender loving care. But that said, having a bit of animation does not erase the big problems with the game. Clashing art styles, awkward animated transitions, and sluggish combat all hurt the experience. The visuals will also glitch out on occasion, like a character might be seen standing on top of another. The problems combine to make a tedious experience.

As the game was made with Unity, any computers made before 2005 will face hardship running the software.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Shards of Eradine has no voice acting.

Sound effects are varied and unique, though they were likely obtained from the Unity asset store. Each fits its purpose well, but they’re barely used often enough to leave an impression. Like the crackling of fire, or the jolt of thunder, are two-second clips that fade out immediately. You’re often listening to the music alone, with little other audio to make the experience more lively.

MUSIC

The bulk of the game’s music relies on soft guitar strums with flutes and piccolos in the background. Varied region music and combat music mix things up, but most of the game you’re listening to a forgettable guitar.

The game has a big problem with ill-fitted music. It gets downright infuriating when the music does not match the scene taking place. When the characters are being slaughtered in front of your eyes, all you hear is country music that sounds like a lullaby. Sure, your friends are sleeping tight in their dark pools of blood, but come on.

HENTAI

The hentai content in this game is fully uncensored and totally hot! From titjobs to blowjobs, from sitting sex to missionary, this game has it all. There are 44 nymphs in total, each of them itching to get kinky!

Each scene is fully animated with expressive character movements. The animation makes the scenes immersive. You plow all manner of pussy belonging to unicorn girls, giraffe girls, each with a super cute visual design that makes you jizz buckets just watching their phat furry bodies.

The only downside is that the pornographic content is tedious to unlock. You play several hours just to find a few nymph. The hunt can get annoying. Shards of Eradine is a game jam-packed with fun. With 20 hours worth of content, you got a small herd of dick-milking nymphs to catch!
