STORY

You play as the young adventurer Maya, who is searching for her lost friend Tabia. The direction of the story is entirely up to you. Will you find her by rising through the guild ranks, or by working as a prostitute? I like my options!

The entire game is straight sex until the ending. Then, both the good and the bad ending feature a unique scene of futa sex with Tabia. This mandatory futanari content was completely unnecessary. Futa divides the fanbase and can ruin an otherwise great story. The fact that Tabia is a futa never comes up in the story. If you don’t mind dicks on chicks, the story borders on perfection.

You quickly learn that Tabia was kidnapped and enslaved. You have to earn a million to save her. You can also work with the adventurer’s guild to take down the slavers. At the end of every in-game day, you’re given the time you have left until the slave auction. This creates real stakes and tension that keep you focused on your goal.

Completing the game as a virgin is possible, but challenging. You’ll need to befriend the three strongest members of the guild, arrest a priest brainwashing and violating his nuns, defeat the cursed armor of the catacombs, and so much more.

While at first you’re known as a total weakling, eventually you get to prove the guard captain wrong and save his life in an epic monster battle. Without spoiling things, I’ll say that the ending had great buildup and emotional stakes that genuinely filled me with joy when it was over. Meanwhile, playing as a whore will give you a completely different experience!

GAMEPLAY

Anera The Demon Tower was created with RPG Maker VX Ace, the most common version of the engine. Use the arrow keys to move. Press A for the text log. Press CTRL to skip dialogue. Press Shift to hide the text box.

The game offers two routes. Prostitution gameplay boils down to talking to townsfolk. Adventuring consists of simply defeating monsters and leveling up. The virgin route of the game took me 5 hours to complete, but including sexual content would likely extend the experience to eight hours or more.

The first half hour of the game is a bumpy road. You’re forced into a mandatory groping scene that increases your lewdness stat. You also don’t get to roam freely until after the first half hour of play. Don’t let that hold you back! The rest of the game is fantastic!

While adventuring offers you daily quests and level ups, prostitution focuses on your attractiveness and lewdness. Attractiveness needs to be raised with clothing and items, and lewdness raises naturally as you have more sex.

Thankfully, there are no slow corruption mechanics. From the moment you boot the game you can run out and prostitute yourself. Of course, if you like the challenge, you can make plenty of money by going out and adventuring.

Here’s an example of good game design. Golden slimes appear as a rare spawn but flee the moment you see them! They drop 10,000 gold only if you have the speed and agility to defeat them. So, wear agility boosting clothing to take them down! This type of problem encourages players to think and put skill into their adventuring life. The gameplay is varied and engaging enough to keep the players playing.

GRAPHICS

The art is in Japanese anime style. The main character has at least ten different outfits. Some outfits are featured in sex scenes, others are used purely for adventuring. Still, the classic outfits like a french maid and nun outfit come with sex scenes.

The main cast of characters have unique character sprites. The design of dungeons is usually straightforward – the game even tells you if you’re going a bad direction, such as areas reserved for late-game. With such an enormous world to explore, this was a necessary feature.

The game is visually fantastic except for a few hiccups. If you leave the cave on your mission with Parca, her character sprite is glitched to stand completely still outside. This was super weird and obviously a bug. A bit more polish would make this game perfect!

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Anera The Demon Tower has no voice acting.

Sound effects are standard to RPG Maker titles. There’s a generic fire sound for flame spells, a slashing sound for sword attacks, etc. More often than not, sound effects fade to the background during dialogue. Instead of getting distracted by loud insertion sounds during sex, you can focus on reading. I honestly prefer this approach over games with absurdly loud sex sounds.

MUSIC

There are 19 songs on the soundtrack, most of which are stock assets from the RPG Maker Library.

When unique tracks play, they usually feature electric piano or electric guitar. Sometimes you get a cool relaxed beat, other times you hear the combination of an epic guitar and drums that get your blood pumping! These songs are perfect for an adventure game, they made me feel at home while slaying monsters. My only complaint is that some tracks loop at absurd times, making it super obvious how short they are.

HENTAI

Anera The Demon Tower has 35 sex scenes in total. Most scenes have variations depending on your sexual experience and lewdness level. For example, it’s possible to lose your virginity to a sex offender prisoner if you keep a high lewdness stat and no vaginal sex experience. Because each scene has a variation, the store page claims there are over 70 unique scenes.

There is mandatory futa content at the end of the game, regardless of whether you got the good ending or the bad one. Besides that, all other content is totally normal straight sex.

The game tracks your sexual experience and sex stats in the pause menu. After you beat the game, you can customize these stats yourself in the recollection room. This level of interactive control is unique and a great innovation on the typical gallery function.

This game tracks impregnation and birthing. If you go to sleep after a creampie, Maya will become pregnant. You can take the morning-after pill to avoid this, but once she’s pregnant, you’re stuck that way until she gives birth. Luckily there is a daycare center nearby, so this won’t interfere with your adventuring.

Scenes include birthing, voring, gangbangs, and even ghostly possession! That last one was my favorite! A ghost takes control of your body and forces you to run out naked in front of the entire town! Normally you would never think of doing something so lewd, but now you’re known all across town for that! Losing your first time to goblins was also a great scene. With so many fantastic scenarios to explore, this game is sure to make you hard!

Anera The Demon Tower is a hidden gem. The story is fantastic, the gameplay offers variety for your playstyle, and the visuals are gorgeous! With impregnation mechanics and sex stats tracked for your viewing pleasure, you can happily pour hours into this game.
