Negligee, a hentai visual novel developed by Dharker Studios. Released in January 14, 2017. Available for download on Nutaku’s for €14.99. For Windows PC, Mac OS, and Linux. No voice acting. Uncensored genitals.

This title had tons of potential to be one of the better western hentai games. With more hentai scenes, drama, and deeper characters, it could’ve been something amazing. The art is jaw-dropping, and the premise pure awesomeness. But the story, music, and everything else about this game is so far from ideal it’s physically painful.

STORY

The story follows Hannah, an employee at a brick-and-mortar store for women’s underwear. The shop is called Negligee. Hannah is suddenly promoted when Karen, the store’s previous manager, left. Hannah investigates Karen’s office, where she discovers her phone. The manager was having an affair with some stud and was filing for a divorce.

Karen’s phone is riddled with erotic photos of her in sexy lingerie, which she was sending to her lover. Hannah forgets all workplace ethics and takes the opportunity to masturbate to her photos.

If you choose not to rummage through Karen’s phone, you’ll unlock a third girl, Charlotte.

Hannah quickly starts searching for an assistant to manage the store with her. Several promising candidates show up. She meets Jasmin, Sophie, and XX. From the get-go, Hannah likes all the girls equally as much, and postpones the hiring decision for later. She wants to learn to know the girls properly before making her choice. The plot is the definition of uneventful. Leading up to the moment of choice, there’s barely anything exciting that happens. A customer enters the store looking for sexy lingerie. The girls help her try on different wears. They help Hannah carry crates in the warehouse. They have a discussion about their past hobbies. And soon enough, everyone meets at Hannah’s office for the grand finale; a heartfelt discussion. Super exciting!

The characters look good visually, and there’s nothing annoying about their personalities. They could be interesting, had the writers provided them more backstory. One of the girls has a drinking problem, while another girl is a stripper. The answer to the question whether she provides “VIP services” is left to your dirty imagination. It would’ve been exciting to make a surprise visit to the strip club she works in, and hire her for backroom lesbian sex.

Jasmin, Sophie, and Charlotte have attractive designs and personalities, but the story barely delves into their backstories, leaving many questions unanswered. Hannah never visits their homes, never sees their parents, never goes on a date with them. There’s not a single conflict between the girls that would require them to go through a period of introspection and learning. This is the biggest problem in Neligee: The relationships stay on a superficial level.

GAMEPLAY

Negligee is a visual novel. Click the screen to “turn the pages”. Save your progress into several save slots. The game offers choices that take the story into slightly different paths leading up to one of multiple romantic endings.

The choices are very arbitrary and make it difficult to assess where they will take the story. Because the story is so superificial, it cannot offer any dramatic choices for the player. There’s no clear division that defines “good” or “bad” paths. You’re left with playing a guess game, making random choices, hoping you’ll unlock the CGs you haven’t yet.

GRAPHICS

The visuals in Negligee are some of the best I’ve seen in a western hentai game. I personally like this style much better for masturbatory purposes compared to the Sakura games. The art is anime style with a western twist. The coloring is realistic and makes the characters and premise feel down to earth. Gentle shadows on the bodies of the characters and the environments create a relaxed atmosphere. It’s like a university safe space with the softest bean bags.

The lingerie especially is so intricately drawn to the finest details, you just want to stop and masturbate to every scene where the girls swap into a new outfit. The womens’ bodies are so perfectly feminine with realistic body proportions, that when they jump into a set of exquisite panties and brassiere, you are overcome with the desire to plug the quivering hole between her legs and put a bum in her oven.

The background art is amazing with many interesting items and beautiful details, and not a single mistake that sticks out. The BG art is so gorgeous and realistic, the images almost look like photographs. It’s like you’re there, you feel like you’re in the lingerie store with the girls selling perverted products to neurotic customers with emotional issues.

SOUND EFFECTS AND VOICE ACTING (SFX)

Negligee has no voice acting. There are virtually no sound effects.

MUSIC

The soundtrack is a very basic, inoffensive playlist of synthetic tracks that you immediately forget after closing the game. From the jarring stream of half-hearted notes, it’s hard to identify the melody of the songs. The notes are all over the place, like a fly banging its ahead against the window of a car. The music just feels soulless, like the composer was forcing themselves to compose something with gritted teeth for an audience they hate. I didn’t get any feelings of inspiration from the soundtrack. The soundtrack is not limited to just one or two songs, there’s certainly plenty of content here. The problem is that the tracks are all in the same vein, seemingly composed with the same musical program, with not a single track standing out of the pack.

HENTAI

The hentai scenes have awesome art and great flow, but they are too rare for my tastes. My overall feeling was one of dissatisfaction simply because there wasn’t enough fucking, but perhaps this story was designed for another kind of audience than tentacle monsters like me.

The scenes are high quality, and deserve points for that. Hannah’s masturbation scene is the first sex scene you see. It’s nicely animated, very good for busting a nut. She went all wet from pictures of her female boss, and just had to use her dildo and anal vibrator to get off. She didn’t even care that her boss had definitely stuffed those same toys in her wet holes while having masturbation sessions with her lover. It’s also possible the couple had sex on the office desk. The situation makes your imagination go wild with possibilities.

You have to wait until the very end for another sex scene. You only get to bang the hotties after you’ve chosen the girl to hire. You have to also make the right choices throughout the game to unlock the content. Leading up to the sex scenes, the story is riddled with incredibly sexually suggestive content. The women have conversations that tie into sex, they gently flirt with each other while dressing up in super sexy lingerie. The sexual tension between the characters is exquisite, which is why I wish things had spiraled out of control.

The staggering amount of build-up makes your cock stand upright throughout the game. It deserved to be released in smaller increments throughout the game leading up to the final fuck.

CONCLUDING WORDS

Negligee is the type of game that surely has an audience, but this audience doesn’t have very high standards. I can only reiterate my earlier statement that the art is great, and everything else about it sucks. The end product is not something developers should aspire for if their resources permit. A good hentai game has hentai, and this game doesn’t have enough sex scenes or drama that would retain your interest beyond a single playthrough.

I recommend this game to pampered middle-class snowflake soyboys. Download Negligee.
