Viola’s adventures continue in the magical land of Asaph Online. As she takes on quests and goes up against monsters, Viola explores this world to find out who summoned her here, and why.
We’ve reviewed the following other titles from this developer: Sakura Space, Sakura Santa, Sakura Halloween, Sakura Dungeon, Sakura Gamer, Sakura Nova, Sakura MMO, Sakura Sadist, Sakura Fantasy, and Sakura Cupid.
STORY
It’s been a month since Viola’s harem has expanded. She is having the time of her life groping the gorgeous bodies of her party members. But not all is perfect. The mystery of how she ended up in Asaph Online still weighs heavy on her mind. Viola takes on quest after quest, hoping one of them will give her clues. She finally gets a lead when she accepts a quest involving a stolen diamond necklace.
Viola and her harem venture to Lady Aislinn’s mansion before launching their investigation. Along the way, Neve confesses to hearing mysterious voices. Soon, their party encounters another cute witch girl, and the plot thickens.
Sakura MMO 2 has good writing. The writer copied everything that made its predecessor work. The downside is that the game lacks its own unique charm. Characters aren’t as fleshed out as I wanted, but it’s easy to overlook because of the great chemistry they have.
The stolen necklace plot line failed to hold my attention. The main plot involving Viola’s summoning to Asaph is far more interesting, but it took some time to develop. Also, Neve’s subplot involving the voices she keeps hearing isn’t given nearly enough attention.
Scenes are lengthy, with plenty of dialogue. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of unnecessary padding. Some scenes exist solely to force characters into conversations that add nothing to the plot. It’s a cheap way to extend play time. Ecchi scenes that never lead to sex are the worst. The writing itself was decent, with no grammatical errors that I could pick up.
CHARACTERS
Viola, Neve, Fion and Eleri are the main characters. Only main characters have sprites.
Unlike the first game which focused solely on Viola, the second installment tries to develop the other characters. Multiple scenes are devoted to exploring Eleri and Neve’s past to make their present selves more interesting. Scenes that explore the backstories of the characters are basically just massive info dumps, but it’s the thought that counts!
Viola continues to be the best character. She has an alluring personality to match her sexy visual design. She constantly teases other characters. Her determination to discipline her harem leads to tons of erotic moments. Much like the first game, scenes depicting characters naked are few and far between. The relationships get plenty of development before sex.
Newcomers to the cast include the noble, but naive Lady Aislinn. She is gullible and pure. She has the same facial features as everyone else. What sets her apart is a different color scheme, default facial expressions, and clothes.
GAMEPLAY
Sakura MMO 2 is a kinetic visual novel. The game has basic visual novel functionality, and runs without glitches. Gameplay is limited to clicking the screen to “turn the pages”. The few choices you’re given do not affect the ending of the game.
The branching choices unlock hentai scenes. Only specific choices will unlock the content. Some choices only change a few lines of writing before proceeding with the story. There are more than enough save slots to help you backtrack your choices. There’s also a button to skip through dialogue you’ve already read.
GRAPHICS
Sakura MMO 2 looks stunning. Characters have a severe case of same-face syndrome, but their attire and hair makes them distinct. The designs for the characters are identical from the first game and have little to no change in outfits. Everyone sports nice, firm anime titties that are just the right size to grope and squeeze.
Shadows are utilized well, with good lighting in every scene. Scenes taking place in the dark feel as though they’re happening in the night. They use darkened colours and brilliant palette swaps with deep textures.
The developers reused sprites from the first game. Thankfully only a handful of artwork is copy-pasted from the first game. There are plenty of new beautiful areas to immerse yourself into Asaph Online, one such area being Aislinn’s mansion.
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
Sakura MMO 2 has no voice acting.
Sound effects are limited to a number of actions, such as water splashing on character bodies, magical spells, and swords slashing through the air. There is no environmental audio, which hurts immersion.
MUSIC
Sakura MMO 2 has a very basic soundtrack. Some tracks are taken from the first game, but this isn’t a bad thing. They are still pleasant to listen to. Certain locations have their own themes. Likewise, the individual themes for each of the girls are carried over from the first game.
Songs have plenty of variety. They take after traditional anime slice of life anime, featuring instruments such as the flute and the piano. The music is casual and easy going, with upbeat tones and soothing melodies. Some of the tracks follow the sword and sorcery theme of the game.
During hentai scenes, music plays a key role. It relaxes the player into the situation and enhances the experience. However, they often use a repetitive beat that gets tiring. The songs used in these scenes aren’t swapped out enough to avoid the issue. They also don’t increase in tempo or build towards a sexual climax.
HENTAI
Hentai scenes in Sakura MMO #2 are mostly lesbian foreplay and teasing. Characters never truly engage in hardcore lesbian sex, such as scissoring. Even basic sex techniques, like pussy fingering, is nowhere to be seen.
In place of filthy hentai fucking, we’re treated to generic anime ecchi. You get a glimpse of breasts through wet clothing. Embarrassing situations turn into sexy modelling sessions. You need to let your imagination run wild if you want to use it as fap material.
Scenes are mostly very tame. Viola and Emeri take a bath together, and Viola fondles the latter’s boobs as she washes her back. Neve gropes Viola’s milk jugs, but never tastes her master’s pussy. Aislinn falls asleep in her room and refuses to let go of Viola.
The only scene that straddles the line would be Fion getting molested by a magical green slime. It’s reminiscent of the first game where she was groped and played with by a magical tree. Using the slime, players are treated to a series of lewd artwork and dialogue descriptions detailing Fion’s struggles. The slime abuses her body, crawling into her vagina and playing with her boobs.
My favourite scene was when Viola and Neve shared an intimate moment at the end. They are both naked in bed and kissing. The artwork is sexy and the writing is excellent. It highlights why these two are a great pairing.
CONCLUDING WORDS
Sakura MMO 2 is an average adult game. While the artwork and writing are good, the content is bogged down by padding. The uninteresting ecchi scenes are frustrating. If you enjoyed the first game in the series, this is more of the same pandering bullshit.
I recommend this game to die-hard fans of the Sakura franchise. Download Sakura MMO 2 at Nutaku.net. Find more hardcore hentai games we’ve reviewed over the years at our humble perverted webstore.
