STORY

The game begins with a massive info dump. You learn everything about crime levels, how to fight, how to guard, how to use guns, who is NightHawk, and so on. Thankfully all of this is recorded in the game manual. Reading this review will get you to a quick start.

Long ago there was a great blacksmith who created three enchanted items. Each enchantment developed a personality of its own, that lived on after the blacksmith died. NightHawk is a magic sword, and you face her two siblings later in the game.

Tomcat is the mirror spirit, and has the power to possess other people’s bodies. She’s carried on the legacy of the blacksmith by making her own creations. The entire game is focused on repairing her prototype smartphone by finding magic relics. There is no demon army or great evil to defeat, this is a very casual game.

Once the info dump ends, the world is open for you to explore. This is a non-linear experience. There are eight relics in total, and you can start searching whenever and wherever you want. You don’t need to find all eight to complete the game. In fact, some can’t be found unless you have special outfits. This means that each player will have a unique experience depending on which outfits they require and which shrines they choose to target. In other words, an open world hentai game.

The writing in this game is fantastic. Erin the adventurer and NightHawk the magic sword are a perfect team. While Erin is cautious and thoughtful, NightHawk is relaxed and a bit childish. Both friends try to pull each other out of their comfort zones and it always makes for endearing moments.

The author of this game had a huge attention for detail. When you visit a church, everybody is nice to you. But if you dress as a nun and fuck all the men, the dialogue changes! Your fellow nuns say “Lord save us” and “The Lord witnesses all. Repent while you can sinner!” This is just one example of the fantastic writing that showed your actions have consequences in the world at large. This is undeniably one of the most well written games I’ve played in a long time.

GAMEPLAY

Knight of Erin was created with the Wolf RPG Editor, the greatest engine of all. Press CTRL to skip text. Press W for the text log. Press Q to hide the text box. Press Shift to activate auto-mode. Press X to deactivate it. Press S to fast travel to any goddess statues you have located. Press A to enter combat. Press D to advance the clock.

The game is a classic dungeon crawler title. Defeat enemies to level up, and gain new items. Use these items for crafting expensive foods you can sell for a profit.

Because the entire world is open from the start, the difficulty of the game depends on days of the week. On the first day of the week, enemies are easy to beat. On the last day of the week, enemies are tough. The tough enemies give more experience points and money.

Early game, you’ll worry about avoiding tough enemies. Late game, you’ll want to avoid weak enemies and spend your time on other activities like crafting and prostitution. This fantastic design encourages players to take time off from grinding for other pursuits.

This game has a fully detailed crime system. For example, brandishing a weapon in town is illegal. The guards will try to arrest you. If you defeat them, you’ll gain another star like in a “Grand Theft Auto” game. As you gain stars, the cops become stronger. You can lower your wanted level by visiting the hideout. If you are defeated, you’ll be thrown in jail. You either fuck a guard, pay a fine, or serve your sentence. Serving time in prison will lower your experience points.

The battle system for this game is completely original. There’s a sword mode and gun mode. Gun mode disables guard and your super attack, but it has high damage. Guarding requires you time your button presses correctly. Equipment items will augment things to increase sword combo time or make timing your guard easier. It sounds complicated but after a battle or two, you’ll love this system.

NightHawk the sword spirit gains power from sperm. Any enemy you fight can be seduced in battle to strengthen your character while weakening them. Outside of battle, you can approach any male NPC to proposition them for sex. Some will only say ‘yes’ if you wear their favorite outfit.

While the game takes under four hours to complete, the open world design and variety of features makes it one of the most addictive and well designed games on the market today. There’s plenty more features to explore once you play the game yourself.

GRAPHICS

The game features 26 base CGs with over 400 images overall. There are also 22 images of pose art. On top of that, there are 18 unique pixel animations for sex during combat. This is one of the most visually astounding hentai games ever.

The world design in this game is fantastic. NPCs actively tell you “if you follow this path it leads to”, and this applies to every town! There is a desert, a mountain, grasslands, a beach coast, and so much more! Each region has unique textures and enemies giving it a personalized feeling. The loot and foraging drops reflect the area. You’ll find honey in the forest and sapphires in mysterious caves.

All scenes have varying levels of animation. Sometimes it’s a screen shake with variation images, other times the cock directly moves and twitches when touched. I absolutely adore this animation style, because it allows for a wide variety of scenes while also conveying motion.

The sprites in this game are super cute. Erin’s sprite changes depending on her outfit when she’s in town. She wears bunny ears, a magic sword, the head covering of a nun, and so much more! The sprites in this game are a perfect example of character design done right. Just at a glance, you can tell who you’re talking to and what they do for a living!

Erin has 9 outfits in total. There’s the default outfit and eight new ones you acquire as you complete shrines. NPCs treat you differently depending on your outfit, and often offer you jobs based on what you’re wearing. I recommend the bunny outfit and cheerleader uniform, but with so many choices, I’m sure you’ll have your own personal favorites.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Knight of Erin has partial voice acting for all female characters. Whether that’s the mage fucked by bandits or the merchant traveling between towns, any girl with a sex scene gets some voice acting. It’s generally moaning, but Erin does have a handful of lines.

The sound effects in this game are fantastic. From the sounds of bullets from your gatling gun, to the sound of sword slashes as you land a sick combo, this game has it all! My absolute favorite sound effects come from the scene where Erin does a naughty photo-shoot. Hearing the flash of the camera and seeing Erin’s blushing face made for a super cute scenario.

MUSIC

There are around 20 music tracks in total, changing in style and pacing depending on your location. The first town has a slow paced track of string instruments that give a medieval feeling. The first boss you find has a fast-paced electric guitar track. And when you have a full-screen sex scene, the music usually slows to a sultry and sexy beat. While none of the music is incredible, each track works well together to compliment the voice acting and convey the atmosphere of the world.

HENTAI

Knight of Erin features 44 full-screen scenes, 18 pixel art animations, and around 5 unique sex acts that vary based on clothing.

Each scene is given a title, and players can skip it if they don’t like the fetish. For example, there’s a mandatory futanari scene between Erin and NightHawk if you sleep at the Inn. I skipped that one. Although human sex is required for progression, you can complete the entire game without ever fucking a monster.

The game has a feature that’s basically a Twitter clone named “TomCatter”. On your profile, your sexual experiences are listed along with tweets from the men you fucked. Watching those tweets and stats pile up made me feel like a true hentai whore!

While the game states you’re an inexperienced virgin at the start of the story, this is retconned at the ending. Erin used to fuck her teachers back at her knight academy, which I thought was an unnecessary addition to her backstory. The developer should have at least shown the scene. And it’s a bad choice to begin with, as this is no longer a story of virgin corruption.

My favorite scene for the visuals alone, is when Erin dresses as a nun and has sex with people in the church. She sticks her butt through the confessional booth and lets any man fuck her. Becoming an anonymous whore is a fantastic scenario.

Knight of Erin is a beautiful hentai RPG with completely unique game design and features that make it a seriously addictive experience. With almost ten outfits in total and tons of dungeons to explore, this game is an instant classic in the hentai gaming genre.
