GAMEPLAY

An Insufficient Girl Bullied and Fucked is a kinetic novel. You click the screen to advance the story. As a kinetic novel, the game offers no choices whatsoever. It is impossible to miss a scene. With auto-text, this game is basically a movie.

The game engine is not reliable. It leads to choppy frame rates and a user-interface that often requires multiple clicks for an action to register. Not to mention that transitions like opening the options menu require you to wait a moment first.

GRAPHICS

The art is classic Japanese anime style, with some distortions and abnormalities that fit the hardcore aesthetic.

You will notice a fart-colored haze over most of the photos. This is explained in game in a variety of ways. This gaseous haze over most of the photos was cool at first but heavily overused. And playing this animation over the dialogue was not a good choice with this engine. The frame rate tends to suffer when the haze is overused.

Fuyua is a busty schoolgirl with long flowing hair tied up in a purple ribbon. She gains weight as the game progresses, making her body reflect the wear and tear that her actions have caused. As the scenes escalate, people start physically hitting her and writing mean things on her skin. While Fuyua does have a masochistic streak, her pain remains clear and evident all throughout.

The visuals do a fantastic job of conveying her character. While all of her classmates have clean clothes that perfectly fit them, Fuyua does not. Her clothes are too tight and she sweats through them on the long train ride to school. While her classmates are normal, the visuals alone indicate that Fuyua does not have the idyllic life they do.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Fuyua has full voice acting in both her personal monologues and conversations with others. From her manner of speaking, she conveys the personality of a ditzy but earnest girl who’s just trying to get along with others. All she needed was a friend, but the bullying causes her to breathe heavily in fear, talk quickly like she’s trying to explain herself, and behave dejected when her classmates eye her with judgement.

Overall the voice acting is fantastic, but during sex scenes it becomes unbearable. Fuyua screeches like a high-pitched noise machine, it’s so irritating I ended up muting the game.

The sound effects convey the impact of actions without going overboard. When Fuyua is kicked around by her classmates, it sounds more like feet shuffling than a cartoonish “thump” like other games. The focus is always on the voice acting, so the sound effects are meant to fade into the background.

MUSIC

An Insufficient Girl Bullied and Fucked features 42 music tracks in total, though many of them are never used.

All tracks are digitally synthesized, creating predictable beats that lack much musical flair. Some of these tracks lack a melody altogether, and instead rely on chirps and beeps that fade out before repeating again. Meanwhile another track is classical music with light and relaxing tones that conjure the mental image of a nursery. Altogether the tracks are a mixed bunch. Some of these songs are trash, and others I’ve downloaded to my phone for personal listening.

There are 16 sex scenes with 14 base CGs. The two repeating CGs change the clothing and dialogue, but the base positions are identical. There’s all kinds of disgusting visuals, such as phimosis dicks, dirty clothing, sex on the floor, and so much more.

Circle Clymenia is not known for great stories, but this one is plainly bad. Even the character arcs are lackluster. Sophie is too easily corrupted. Maybe the writer thought a steampunk aesthetic could carry the story alone.

Sadly, this game has a large fanbase of people who love it for the cute, reverse trap, tomboy character. They love her nonchalant attitude. So, your enjoyment of the writing depends entirely on your feelings for the protagonist.

GAMEPLAY

Detective Girl of the Steam City was created with the RPG Maker VX Ace game engine. This allows for adjustable resolution and diagonal movement, but comes with a less reliable frame rate. Sometimes this game will stutter and slow down, and there’s nothing you can do to fix it.

Use the arrow keys to move. Press Z and X to interact with the world. Press A to fire your wire gun. Press M to show your minimap. Press V to change your target display. Press shift to hide the text window, and CTRL to skip dialogue.

Regardless of what the single sentence steam reviews will tell you, the gameplay here is absolutely crap. There are no redeeming qualities. You will not have any fun for at least an hour or more.

In the police route, you talk to NPC’s and press the action button to locate clues. Choose some dialogue, go on a fetch quest, and the case will be solved. Even if you barely pay attention, you’ll complete the game.

In the gangster route, you grind out bad guys for level-ups and money. Beat enemies, heal up, repeat until you’re strong enough to defeat the boss. Do that for ten more dungeons, and the game will be over.

The game world is huge and impossible to navigate. I understand that the “Steam City” was a big selling point of this game, but this isn’t grand theft auto, this is RPG Maker! I promise you, you’ll get lost while walking around.

Sophie has six skills and three gadgets. The gadgets can only be upgraded when you find pre-placed items in the world. Because they aren’t randomly generated, everyone will have the exact same path of progression. As for the skills, they’re not very important. Whether it’s avoiding enemies or finding items faster, the skills are largely forgettable and seem like an obligation rather than an exciting feature.

If you’ve ever played a game from circle Clymenia before, this one will be a massive disappointment. They removed free form upgrades in favor of hyper-linear gameplay. They removed a complex reputation system in favor of an unnecessary skill system. And they put all their energy into creating a steampunk aesthetic, instead of creating a fun experience.

GRAPHICS

The art is traditional Japanese anime style. It’s the same artist from previous games from circle Clymenia.

The game’s art is inspired by industrial London. From the leather coat of our protagonist to the ornate dresses of the aristocrats, every artistic decision blends well with the steampunk aesthetic.

The city of London is the true star of this game. It was crafted with hundreds of licensed and original assets to create a believable RPG version of the city. Its numerous districts and shops and unique texture assets for every region, make this city a glorious place to get lost in.

As a reverse trap, Sophie’s character design is meant to make her look flat and leave her gender ambiguous. Besides her belt to tighten her waist, she could easily pass for a young skinny guy, and her dialogue reflects it too.

Many players are completely in love with the unique visuals. After hundreds of games using stock RPG Maker assets, fappers have been waiting for something new! The assets are nice, but the game world feels dead.

Due to engine limitations, the developers kept outdoor NPC numbers to an absolute minimum, meaning that the city streets feel completely barren! I don’t believe anyone lives in this city, because I never see anyone outside!

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Detective Girl of the Steam City has no voice acting.

The sound effects include numerous licensed assets. Whether it’s the night vision goggles or hookshot, a unique sound matching these gadgets makes for exciting ambience. The sex sounds are recycled from previous games of the developer, and remain cartoonish. Ejaculation should not sound like a jelly donut being stepped on.

MUSIC

There are 40 songs on the soundtrack, many of which are licensed assets, not commonly used by most developers.

Music doesn’t always cue when it’s supposed to. Sometimes you’ll sit in silence waiting for the track to start. When it does, it’s absolutely majestic! Violin and piano mix to create a feeling like you’re back in the early 1900s. The musician behind these tracks deserves an award, because this is true art!

I don’t know if its track compression or something, but some of these songs sound a bit “digitally blurred”. The notes don’t sound as crisp as they should, which tends to ruin the experience. Even if this was intentional, going from violin to foggy digital beats is not a good transition. The music should be more uniform in my opinion.

Detective Girl of the Steam City has about 60 scenes in total, with 12 mini-events. There are also miscellaneous scenes where Sophie has sex with her opponents, but those are short and not listed in the recollection room.

The main appeal of this game is the reverse trap fetish. It’s a bitch, but she dresses and acts like a man to confuse your dick. Many players find tomboys to be super attractive, but I shrug it off.

The first two erotic scenes are meaningless coerced sex unrelated to you. The events occur with no setup at all. I have no attachment to these characters, so why should I care? If I wanted generic anime sex, I would use a porn site. We play these games for something with more build-up than that.

The hentai content in this game is a little retarded. The worst example is how the inclusion of piss play. I don’t care how much you love urine, I like my hentai games with impregnation. The game also barely qualifies as a corruption title. There’s so little buildup, and she never seems to dislike sex in the first place. Sophie’s passive behavior ruins the corruption.

One ending of the game has Sophie sold to a human trafficker. This could have been the setup for something very exciting, but instead the scene ends and we never find out more.

The most memorable scene is when Sophie sleeps with a man who already has a relationship. She’s a homewrecker who breaks up relationships without a care. That might be hot, but it also makes her extremely unlikable.

Detective Girl of the Steam City is a gorgeous game from a well known developer of hentai games. The music is wonderful and the sound effects are usually fitting. The hentai scenes are visually enchanting, even if the content is questionable. It seems to me that there was too much emphasis on the setting, and not enough on the gameplay itself.

Although many assets are user-generated for the Daz3D engine, this developer has also created his own for some very strange occasions. The chastity cage for example was created for this game exclusively.

It’s a classic combat system where your character grows stronger from fighting enemies. You can avoid battles altogether by sneaking up behind enemies for an instant kill attack. Successful backstabs don’t yield full experience points.

If you want a hentai-filled playthrough, stock up on “exhaustion drugs” to weaken your character. After your first rape, you can speak to the sports coach on campus to learn sex skills.

The game’s difficulty level is balanced enough that both the virgin and pervert routes are fulfilling and fun to play. There are 24 songs on the soundtrack. Some songs are standard RPG Maker stocks, some are carried over from previous games by the developer, and some are unique to this game alone.

The music relies heavily on repetitive guitar chords coming together to create a predictable beat. The drums keep the rhythm of the song, but they’re difficult to hear over the heavy electric guitar.

The music is near entirely guitar. One guitar sets a basic rhythm, other guitars join in to create variety to the melodies. The tempo changes between songs, which mixes things up somewhat. Each song only lasts about a minute however. The moment you find yourself bobbing your head to the sick beat, it’s over.

GAMEPLAY

That Life ~The Rural Survival RPG, was created with RPG Maker. You move with the arrow keys and press spacebar to interact with objects and people. Press CTRL to skip dialogue. Press ‘Q’ to hide dialogue boxes.

The game cycle is unclear at the start. It’s an exploration and survival game that is focused on the learning experience of your character. You’ll start out completely clueless just like Naoko.

There are several gauges you’ll want to keep in balance throughout the game: Stress, hunger, hydration, and two wastes (poop, bladder). You need to fulfill all your bodily needs, or you’ll get sick! You can get food poisoning, incontinence, and much, much more! Take care of Naoko, or she will die.

First thing you should do is head to the maid’s room to grab the insect basket. The basket is a weapon that lets you fight and collect bugs, which are the first enemies you meet in the game.

Talk to the maid in the living room, and you can start helping her. She rewards you with “help tickets”. You can spend the tickets to make her cook meals and accompany you on your adventures. She also gains level-ups.

When you’re hungry, kill chickens and pigs. Remember to cook their corpses! After eating, use the rest room and poop the poor animals out of your ass.

Naoko gains level-ups by walking, eating, and overall surviving. You can also drag her ass on to a good cock, and speed up your character progression with the power of sexual intercourse. Shadows are used to convey the passage of time throughout the game from daytime to nightfall. There’s also details like brown stains on your panties if you haven’t cleaned up in a while.

The graphics are great for the most part, but there are some low quality artworks.

SOUND EFFECTS AND VOICE ACTING (SFX)

The sound effects in this game are numerous. A spring noise plays when you jump. A splashing noise plays as you take a bath. Everything seems to fit the gameplay perfectly up until you reach the sex scenes. When a man reaches climax, you hear a very high-pitched “ping” that signifies he’s cumming. It doesn’t make any sense.

MUSIC

There are a total of 19 musical tracks in this game, nearly all of them unique to the title. The music in this game is entertaining, and didn’t get old even after hours of listening.

The songs tend to build up into a melody over time, rather than start with all instruments playing. One song in particular starts with a bass-line and guitar strums. Then a maracas joins in, then an electric piano. Suddenly you hear a horn! It reminded me of Sesame Street, weird as that parallel may sound.

The game includes ambient noises of birds and crickets when you’re walking through the forest at night. These ambient tracks are long enough they don’t easily repeat. The ambient sounds are unique and not repetitive.

HENTAI

The game has 40 base CGs and multiple variations amounting to 80 hentai scenes total.
