STORY

A policeman knocks at your door, hoping you’ll give a home to this abused orphan girl. Her mother passed away and her father is in prison, and the police have nowhere else to turn. You’re a well-trusted journalist with close ties to the police, somehow making you the ideal candidate to be a foster father.

The game starts out very slow. For the first hour it’s completely linear, slowly introducing gameplay features and build up your relationship with Nai. The very first choice of the game is to give head pats or cock. You decide how fast your relationship with Nai will develop.

After five story events, the game opens up. You can send Nai out for three activities per day, each with its own random events. For example, Nai getting bullied by kids at school. This ensures every playthrough is unique, because the story events depend on your choices.

While the core theme is loving an abused girl, the writing has a number of flaws. For example, the game often lacks choices in moments that need them. Someone groped Nai, and all you do is watch. Her boss at work keeps talking about how sexy she is, but you let him continue. There were too many moments where there should have been a choice, which left me frustrated.

While the game is available in three languages, the translations are poorly done. At least in English, bad grammar and weird phrasing makes this a rough experience. I’ve seen fan translators who’ve done a better job than this! And it’s not even a matter of too much dialogue! Conversation topics repeat frequently, which kills player immersion.

If you can look past these flaws there are 20 ending variations. In actuality there’s around ten unique endings, but each has an alternate version if Nai is a slut. Will you get married? Will she become a famous singer? It all depends on which stats you cultivated the most.

GAMEPLAY

Nai’s Training Diary was created in the Unity game engine. You only need a mouse to play. You can skip dialog by pressing the CTRL key, but without a backlog or rewind, you should be very careful using it!

After an hour of prologue and build-up, the game opens up to player influence. You have 100 days to raise Nai before her father is released from prison. During those days you need to help her adapt to normal society through odd jobs.

Nai has five skill stats, each assigned to a unique career. If you make her work at the library, she’ll gain knowledge. If she works as a servant, she’ll gain manners. If she works at a hotel, she’ll learn social skills. Each job has the potential to increase earnings. For example she’ll begin singing on the streets, but eventually sing at the local pub. If any character skill is above 100, Nai will have that job in her ending.

Nai has two mental stats. Stress raises whenever she works and is released when you take her on a date. Favor raises during story events and talking to her at home. Once you reach 100 favor, you can have sex with her. Once you reach 200 favor, you’ll get the marriage ending.

Nai has a lust stat that raises with story events and having sex with you. Lust is lowered by praying at the church. If lust reaches 60, she’ll cheat on you. If it reaches 100, she’ll leave you and become the town whore.

Overall the game is very similar to Ikari Raising Project. You’ll feel encouraged to start a new game and focus on new skills. With so many endings and so much freedom of choice, the game truly is a joy to play.

GRAPHICS

While Nai is drawn in the Japanese anime style, all other characters have a more cartoonish appearance. Sometimes this is horribly jarring, with some characters having soft outlines and eyes far apart. It’s clear that different artists were used frequently. Even worse, many character sprites are carried over from the developer’s previous game, Broke Girl.

Nai is a young beautiful girl who was beaten by her father. She’s often shown with bandages and scars on various parts of her body. At the start of the game, she tends to cover up those marks and always has a fearful look on her face. In the true ending of the game, her scars have largely faded and her eyes are filled with love and hope. Watching her gradual transformation makes this game a truly heartwarming experience.

Nai has eight outfits: A bunny suit, a winter coat, a swimming bikini, and so much more! My favorite is her dancing outfit, its scarlet shine makes her radiate with unmatched beauty.

Cute chibi artworks play during your job. The image gallery can be fully opened from the options menu. There are 43 base CGs, but many of them are similar. In reality there’s about 30 unique scenes.

The fatal flaw of this game is that you cannot hide text boxes. Often times some ass or tits will be hidden by blocks of text. It’s difficult to enjoy these scenes when text boxes block the view. If only this was fixed, I’d be praising the art nonstop.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Nai’s Training Diary has full voice acting for the titular character. The problem is, the voice acting does not match the character expressions. I assume the actress was given a script with no direction, because that’s how it sounds. Nai could look completely terrified on-screen, but the delivery is the same monotone voice as always.

The sound effects are limited, but that’s honestly a good thing. Rather than sex scenes bursting with rapid pounding, they’re usually quiet, letting you keep the focus on the voice acting and loving words. While conversations aren’t done well, the voice acting during sex scenes is always erotic! To hear a yelp of pleasure as Nai gets her pussy filled, I almost came in my pants!

MUSIC

There are only a handful of music tracks but they fit the game well. A soft piano melody plays on the main menu as the main theme of the game. I hope you like it, because that track plays through most of the experience. Thankfully, it’s broken up by other tracks that are situational. While there’s a more serious track for story events, there’s a light and relaxing track to match the chibi artwork whenever Nai goes to work. Altogether the music is forgettable.

HENTAI

Nai’s Training Diary has around 30 unique scenes in total. While some scenes will feature a simple nip slip, others are hardcore fucking! You never know what you’re going to get.

Many players have complained about the NTR content in this game. If Nai’s lust rises above 60%, there’s a chance she’ll cheat on you with other guys. Even if you’ve been the perfect boyfriend, she’ll still cheat. Many players felt the cheating happens without warning and is completely unfair.

STORY

Alisa is queen and needs to rebuild her nation. This requires taking power away from the nobility, who are resistant to change. There are no story routes or dramatic twist endings, it’s a very straightforward experience.

There are three endings in total depending on which adviser you prioritize. For example, the game explicitly tells you that getting the Sigrid ending requires agreeing with her at all times. This isn’t really a meaningful choice, it’s just obediently following the developer’s chosen path of progression. Many choices in this game make no sense. I built a factory, and my economy was severely damaged. That’s absurd!

Whether you’re a whore or not, the endings are always the same. The protagonist, Queen Alisa, is completely inconsistent on her feelings about sex. Sometimes she’s completely repulsed, and other times she begs for cock. The complete lack of consistency makes it hard to empathize with her. This game needs a complete rewrite.

The DLSite page claims this is a “Simulated life game of country operation and strategy simulation”. It’s not even close to fitting that description. The reality is, the game tells you exactly what to do. You need economy level 20, or you’ll get a game over. So even though you have other choices, the only correct choice is to boost the economy. Later on, you need military level 40 or you’ll get a game over. The constant threat of the game ending means you don’t have any choice at all. Prioritize what the game tells you to, or you’re fucked.

Many players have confused this with difficulty, but its not. The game provides you a scenario like “build farmland or build a military garrison”. This isn’t difficult! If you make the wrong decision, just load a save file!

Yes, the kingdom has stats, but they mean nothing because you’re supposed to make the choices that the developer commands you to. Meanwhile, the Queen has no stats, and is a very hollow character.

GRAPHICS

The artwork is primarily drawn in the Japanese anime style, except some character sprites in a different style. This can be very jarring. You’ll have the pointed chin and big eyes from the classic anime style, talking to someone with a rounded human face and realistically sized eyes. Honestly, it’s embarrassing to see the art style change so randomly.

Queen Alisa has only one outfit, which is a huge downgrade from previous titles by this developer. Another disappointment is the loss of chibi artworks. The developer gutted this game of all the personality that his previous titles had.

The image gallery can be unlocked from the options menu. There are 32 base CGs with over 200 variations. Seven of these CGs are non-sexual, showing characters laying around and doing other normal things. This is great for making the world feel more realistic, but it’s only used at the start and end of the game.

While other games build a main cast of characters with numerous expressions, this game has tons of characters who only get one appearance. This makes the characters feel like static images. The only one with any variation is Sigrid, and she doesn’t appear as often as the cover art would make you believe.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Queen’s Glory has full voice acting for Queen Alisa and her trusty maid Sigrid. Their voices are relatively similar and lacking in personality. Alisa is the generic anime blonde who shouts “yamate” whenever someone touches her.

Sound effects are nearly nonexistent. Although the game includes multiple “battles” where you hear the results from the royal court, there’s never actually an action scene. Sound effects are limited to the beginning and ending of the game when people get killed.

MUSIC

Having already played and reviewed the other two games by this developer, I can say without a doubt, he’s copy pasting music files over. The soundtrack is nearly identical to Nai’s Training Diary with the exception of maybe one new song. If this is the first game you’ve played, the soundtrack will be mediocre at best. But if you’re familiar with this developer, you’ll be supremely disappointed.

HENTAI

The game begins with a mandatory scene of Queen Alisa losing her virginity in a gangbang against knights from a rival kingdom. There’s nowhere else to go from there! Rather than escalation, the next scene is weaker, and is a simple blowjob to a nobleman. The game continues like this, tossing scenes at you that never seem to get hotter.

There are 25 scenes in total, ranging from doggystyle to cowgirl. The majority of scenes go to Queen Alisa, but her maid Sigrid has a couple too. Alisa often fucks the same men repeatedly, and it’s pretty predictable. I wish she fucked some commoners or faced real humiliation. Without a clear fetish or love interest, this game is just a random compilation of hentai.

Even worse, there’s no animations or well written dialogue to save these scenes! The artwork is nice, but moaning and saying an occasional “yamate” doesn’t help. The lack of creativity here is obvious and disappointing.

Queen’s Glory is advertised as a strategy game, but you’re told what to do. It’s advertised as a simulation, but there’s no freedom, and only three possible endings. It’s advertised as a hentai game, but the scenes are low quality. The developer released greatness in the past, but now he’s fallen from grace. I was thoroughly disappointed.

The setups to the sex scenes are hard to believe. The background music and dialogue tries to convey a serious tone, but the idea that every man on the planet is a sex hungry psychopath is outrageous. It kills any sense of realism.

For example, a shop owner accuses you of stealing and randomly fucks you. This is a mandatory sex scene without any buildup. It seems like the developer made the art first and worried about the plot second.

Although there are six endings, all of them are bad. It is impossible to complete the game as a virgin, so don’t bother trying. Even the so-called “good endings” are bittersweet at best. This game has a depressing side that left me feeling bad after playing it.

GAMEPLAY

The skip is far too fast and there is no text log. This means, you’ll almost certainly skip far past where you meant to, and be left confused about what happened.

Click a job, make some money, buy some clothes. Repeat this until a scene or choice appears. The gameplay has zero depth.

The entire game would have been significantly better if created in Renpy. It would have had text logs, the option to reverse dialog, and custom skip speed built in by default. The game would also run smoother! Right now, there are occasional input lags that ruin player immersion.

The gameplay is simple. You owe 10 million dollars and have 2 years to pay it back. This is impossible unless you prostitute yourself. While at first you’ll do small jobs like selling real estate or giving massages, eventually you’ll have to become a prostitute for the big bucks.

Each job is tied to one of three skills. These are service, fame, and eloquence. For example, your skillful hands in massaging may come in handy in porn work.

Normally your skills increase as you continue working jobs. However, if you press the skip button, your skills will not increase. This means you are forced to watch repetitive chibi animations for hours on end, which makes for a boring experience. The game never tells the player it works like this, so you may have low skills forever without a clue how to raise them.

GRAPHICS

The artwork is mostly drawn in the Japanese anime style, except for some character sprites which don’t quite fit in. The female protagonist will meet tons of horny guys in her life, all of which have a unique appearance. Some fit well with her anime art style, while others look like they belong in a different game. The image above is a perfect example. While the girl is a typical anime blonde, the shop owner is drawn in a completely different art style. This was jarring and unexpected, my immersion was ruined.

The game was created in Unity, so naturally the frame rate is crazy. Sometimes it’s smooth as silk, while other times the game slows to a crawl. This has nothing to do with computer strength, the game is just poorly optimized.

Everybody has a single character sprite. This is horrible, because there are no variations based on emotion. A character’s dialogue will indicate they’re angry and going to hit you, but their artwork shows them smiling.

Cute chibi artworks play during your job, and the image gallery is completely unlocked once you beat the game, regardless of your ending. There’s also 8 different outfits. Sadly, these outfits are rarely shown during sex scenes, where the main girl gets naked almost immediately every time.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Broke Girl has no voice acting.

Due to poor optimization, audio quality suffers. When the game lags, the audio becomes scratchy and laggy. You may end up muting the game just to avoid it. When the audio does work, it’s crappy. The blowjob sounds like generic squishy jello being mashed about. The sound effect for knock on the door sounded like paper or bubble wrap. There is nothing positive to be said except that the game would be better off silent.

MUSIC

There are only a handful of musical tracks in this game, but they rarely work as intended. The main track that plays during job scheduling is good elevator music but painfully generic. Outside of that, the experience is dreadful. The music track will reset when you do anything, even pause for a moment! When you allow the music to play smoothly, it still disappoints by never matching the scene. The girl was crying two seconds ago, but now a happy bouncy tune is playing!

The hentai content is the true highlight of this game. With 14 unique scenes and artworks, there’s plenty of erotic content to enjoy. You’re likely to miss some during your playthrough, but once you complete the game, all the scenes will be unlocked in the gallery.
