STORY

GAMEPLAY

Book of Hypnosis and Climax was created with RPG Maker. You move with the arrow keys and press spacebar to interact with objects and people. Press ‘w’ or ‘CTRL’ to skip dialogue, and press right-click to hide the dialogue box. You only need a mouse or touchpad to play, as almost all actions can be executed via clicking. You only need a keyboard for skipping dialogue. As a nice added feature, you can resize the game in windowed mode to whatever size you like.

The game cycle is simple RPG fare: Venture into dungeons, kill everything and loot their corpses, buy items, and level up your character  to conquer boss monsters cock-blocking your progress.

At random times, defeated enemies will drop ingredients for hypnosis spells. On the upper floor of the academy you can exchange old ingredients for new ones, to speed up your progress towards hypnotizing the girls!

The game has three different endings. You can choose your destiny, after which you can roam free in the world.

GRAPHICS

The art is in anime style. It’s the first game from circle Analcime, but the artworks are absolutely gorgeous.

The art makes heavy use of shading. The artist paid attention to the direction of the light source. The long hair of the ladies means their necks and shoulders are shielded from light, while their breasts are not. The realistic shading adds to the immersion and overall sexiness of the scenario.

The game takes place in the school building. You can’t leave the premises to explore. It’s a pretty well designed area still. The gray tiled floor is complimented by wooden stairways, and tables, which have a rustic quality to them. The library area has hundreds of bookshelves, which don’t look all the same. There are like five unique bookshelf assets spread out to create variety.

The areas where the teachers sit after class is unique and more developed than other areas. While the classrooms have wood stools and books everywhere, the teacher’s quarters have containers, tea, and weapons placed around the room. The teachers have blue carpets with an ornate pattern around them. While the grayish textures can become a bore over time, there is enough variety in assets to keep players engaged.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Book of Hypnosis and Climax has no voice acting.

The sound effects would be fitting for a fantasy RPG, but they’re a terrible for a game taking place in a magic academy. For example, there is a sound for a creaking wooden door that would work great in any other game – here all the doors are stone! Worse still, the doors withdraw into the ceiling, they have no hinges! This isn’t magic, it’s madness!

The splash of water in the bath scene is fine, and the muffled squirt sound of ejaculation. Many adult games make cumshots far too loud. Overall, the sound effects are a mixed bag, with some effects working fine in context, while others don’t.

MUSIC

There are 18 songs used throughout the game, most of which are stock music that comes with a standard RPG Maker download. Still, the music serves its purpose in conveying the tone and tempo of each scene.

Heavy use of the xylophone and bass characterize nearly all tracks throughout the game. There are some digitally synthesized tones. While the xylophone provides the primary tone you pay attention to, the bass fills the void and gives an underlying rhythm to the music.

The soundtrack is unfortunately very predictable. There’s a more upbeat track that plays during combat, and a track that builds tension in the sex scenes. The songs fit their respective scenes, but the audio is underwhelming overall.

HENTAI

The game has 20 sex scenes in total. 11 scenes are unique, and rest use recycled assets.

According to the official game description, the sex scenes were created “by hypnosis lovers, for hypnosis lovers”. There’s less of an emphasis on corruption and taboo, and more focus on the hypnotization aspect of the scenario. The first sex scene happens when you hypnotize Amelia, and make her pee in the public. The second scene, you perform oral sex on her. The third scene, she gives you a handjob. In the fourth scene you get a blowjob.

Amelia is the dominant type of sex partner. You hypnotize her into believing you have a femdom relationship with her! You lick her pussy, because she told you to! You receive a handjob, because she’s teasing you! She comes out and says, while she’s stroking you off, that she’s bored waiting for “your pathetic ejaculation”.
