Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most culturally significant anime of our generation (inspired by the Christian mythos, as the best stories usually are). The full anime is still available on modern streaming sites like Netflix, even orchestral concerts are made of the soundtrack. Because when you let God speak in your work, brilliance is simply effortless.
Now, somebody brilliant made this one. It’s a riveting clash of styles and eras, something you should never have been able to hear. The long-dead master singer Frank Sinatra sings the legendary Cruel Angel’s Theme. Sinatra was born in 1915 and died in 1998… so technically, he could have sung this, because Evangelion aired in Japanese television in 1995-1996.
