Louise is a Californian gyaru cowgirl in search of adventure! She travels to South America to explore the ruins of the Aztec empire where treasure and horny men await her sweet, tanned ass!
STORY
Travel to South America to explore the ancient ruins! The game just drops you in without much setup.
Even the side plots are super basic. Give an old man an egg in exchange for a new pistol. Find animal blood to activate a statue. The game rare gives you any clues, so keep a walkthrough close by.
You can prostitute yourself for quick cash, but if you do it too much you’ll automatically get the prostitute ending. This was disappointing, because you’re not warned about it, and may get it against your will.
The game ends when you clear the ruins and find the treasure.
GAMEPLAY
My Expedition was created in a unique game engine, similar to Unity. Use WASD to move. Press Spacebar to jump. Press ‘K’ to aim and ‘J’ to shoot. Although the game says ‘C’ is to squat, its actually the ‘L’ key.
Basically, kill animals or zombies to get items. Sell those items back in North America. Spend your profits on ammo or gun upgrades. You can also purchase a llama to expand your inventory capacity. The dungeon resets every time you enter and exit, so don’t worry about running out of enemies.
The aiming in this game is bad. You have to stand exactly parallel to your opponents in order to land a shot. Thankfully, you can hire mercenaries to fight for you, and they never miss.
The lack of a level-up system holds this game back. Each character, including the protagonist, has unique stats that affect the gameplay. For example, a high intelligence will give better prices when you sell items. But after setting your stats at the start of the game, you can never change them again! This was a huge waste of a potentially interesting game mechanic.
Kill monsters, go deeper in the ruins, use healing items, kill even more monsters and strip-mine the ruins of booty. The gameplay is simple and enjoyable, and very unique in the adult gaming niche.
GRAPHICS
The game is fully animated. The pixel art is beautiful and varied, with natural movements that emphasize the excitement of the fucking or fighting on-screen.
There is no fullscreen mode, so the cursor moves weirdly along borders of the screen. If you try to click something in the corner of the screen it will exit the game. There are 15 fullscreen CGs and 15 animated sex scenes. While the CGs are for showering and groping, the animations emphasize deep hard fucking!
A big problem with the visuals is that you cannot zoom in during the animated sex scenes. Even worse, the background visuals clash with the anime characters. Often times the backgrounds are high resolution and realistic, while the characters come off looking out of place.
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
My Expedition features full voice acting for Louise. The lack of an overall story means that voice acting is restricted to the beginning of the story and particular moments throughout the game. Although her voice is unique and sexy, I wish she had more lines.
The sound effects are your classic arcade style attacks. Spears don’t actually make a sound when you thrust them, so this game uses a slight “whop” sound effect. And punches aren’t exactly loud, so you’ll get a cartoonish “thump”. The sound effects show the impact of your actions, but aren’t really impressive.
MUSIC
There are less than ten tracks in total. While angelic harps play in North America, flutes and woodwind instruments play in South America. I recommend you lower the volume of sound effects, or the loud bullet noises will drown out the music. Even without sound effects, the music is simplistic enough to fill the background without distracting from the action. Remember, battles happen in real time and require your immediate attention.
HENTAI
My Expedition features 15 fullscreen CGs and 15 animated sex scenes. Too much sex will result in the prostitution ending, discouraging players from goofing off too much.
You engage in drunken sex, spitroasting threesomes, monster sex, and so much more! Each scene is incredibly erotic and shows off the perfect body of the tan blonde adventurer Louise. Sadly, the erotic text is very basic. For example, prostitution doesn’t lend itself to small talk. Those guys just want to get off!
The limit on sexual encounters and lack of sex stats hold this game back. While playing, I felt like none of the encounters really mattered, and you aren’t even paid that much for selling yourself! The art is great, but sex is not a proper part of the experience.
CONCLUDING WORDS
My Expedition is a unique side-scroller in the niche hentai games market. The animations are gorgeous and the fullscreen CGs are downright beautiful. But without a story to tie things together, this game felt like it was missing something crucial. I came an easy bucket at the amazing artwork, but was left wanting context and character development.
