STORY
You’re an insecure little bitch ninja in training. You’ve just learned to swing a katana, when your sensei suddenly sends you on a kill quest. Now, you must kill everything on your path and ask no questions later. I really wasn’t paying much attention to the storytelling, because the story was only in the background contextualizing the shit show while impacting nothing in the actual game. There were no cut scenes or in-game story sequences.
The lackluster story is told via dialog that is not voice-acted. It somehow, some way manages its main purpose, which is to make you crave to see more of these characters. Watching the girls interact with each other made me feel more attached to them. I found myself particularly hungry for more content with Chichiro. Any time her luscious boobies popped on screen, my hand slipped into my boxers. There’s just something very special about a warm, motherly shrine maiden with massive knockers in a whorish version of the iconic costume.
GRAPHICS
Ninja Maidens has a combination of 2D anime art and pixel graphics. The real-time battles are visualized in pixel graphics, while the story sequences feature gorgeous hand-drawn character sprites that make you want to jump their bones. The environments are cute, dotted with all kinds of little details that entertain. The character animations don’t use too many frames, but you never feel like a frame is missing. The CGs are high quality, with lush backgrounds, and hot anime girls in exquisite clothing displaying their cleavage.
GAMEPLAY
Your ninja squad runs through a linear course fighting enemies. You can use special abilities with a click. You can also use consumables that buff your girls, deal damage to the enemies, or debuff them. You can click a button to set special attacks to be used automatically. You can click enemies to choose them as targets. You’re not really supposed to play this game actively. The lack of interaction isn’t a flaw, but deliberate design.
You have different classes of ninjas, including healers, melee fighters, and ranged damage dealers. You can level up your maidens with the in-game currency, silver, once the girls have enough experience for a level-up. You grind for silver by killing the enemies and completing levels. It’s a very important resource that lets you buy upgrades, spins in the wheel of fortune, group power-ups, consumables, and more. Note, you’ll generate some resources even when you’re not playing.
The resource you use to level up your characters’ powers is “AP”. The powers themselves are not exactly character-specific, and you can customize your party with the powers you want, within limitations.
You unlock more characters to add into your party as you progress in the story. The rate of progression slows down considerably in later chapters, so you’ll be grinding the same old levels over and over before qualifying to unlock new content. The upside is, this game doesn’t have a stamina system. You can play easier levels with little input required, and grind towards the next milestone without interrupting your work, or studies. Note, you have to reserve a separate browser for the game if you’re checking up other things from the internet.
MUSIC
This game has a small variety of music to offer. The battle music track switches between several songs of different mood and style. These battle songs are digital, and very unobtrusive background content. The track can switch several times during a level, so even though the compositions are short, they don’t loop endlessly. The song I enjoyed the most was the victory jingle, which also came in two variations.
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
This game has no voice acting. And the sound effects are basic digital fodder, nothing out of the ordinary. Clicking buttons in the various menus gives out nice little sounds. The audio design is competent, and nothing sticks out like a sore thumb, allowing you to have a smooth gaming experience.
BUSINESS MODEL
Ninja Maidens is free to play. It has the most convoluted value proposition ever. First, you buy Nutaku gold with real money, you buy crystals with Nutaku gold, then you buy silver with crystals, which buys level-ups, power-ups, and other goodies. Each character level-up costs more, and more. Higher tiers of crystal purchases come with bonus crystals. If you decide to support the developer, you’ll have to spend a moment with a calculator to make sense of this mess.
HENTAI
During my first playthrough, I discovered only one scene. After I completed the game, which barely took a few hours, the difficulty spiked up in “New Game Plus” mode. I also started unlocking sexy scenes for the characters. The system is gated such that by playing more, you see more booty. My second session was spiced with several juicy scenes with gorgeous artwork and smooth animation. If only the game had competent voice acting, my penis would be very, very happy.

Ninja Maidens is an insanely addicting casual RPG grinder. It does everything right to get you instantly hooked and craving for more.
