STORY

The story is told in small episodes isolated to zones. For example, ghosts are groping women on the night train! Will you arrive in time to save her? Or will she be fucked and creampied all night long?

Each zone has a person who needs to be saved. This story setup is great to quickly pickup and play. Plus, completing multiple zones advances the overall story at a great pace.

While the first half of the game establishes the setting and how the world functions, the second half of the game fully explains why the ghosts have targeted your hometown. The truth is, they are led by a human being!

After rumors spread of a woman who was able to have a child with a ghost, this mysterious researcher decided to investigate! He’s been sending ghosts out to kidnap people, hoping to get the attention of the shrine maidens!

Spoiler alert! The person he’s looking for is your mother, which makes you a ghost-human halfling! If he captures you, he’ll learn your biology and throw off the natural balance of the world! You can’t let him win!

The ending of the game has a reference to “Pretty Princess Party”, another game by this developer.

GAMEPLAY

Ghost Party was created with RPG Maker VX Ace. Move with the arrow keys and press Shift to run. Hold ‘A’ to speed up the game in general. This includes a super fast run and speeding up battle animations. There is no dialogue skip, text log, or hiding text boxes.

The game cycle is the classic RPG dungeon crawler with breaks in between. Fight monsters for gold and experience points. After completing a dungeon, the townspeople will comment on your actions and talk about how the monsters have disappeared. This was a great way to show the impact of your actions. I wish more games did that.

The game is super well paced. Rather than toss you into a super long dungeon, you take on a dungeon piece by piece. For example you defeat a ghost girl in the school bathroom, but return later to deal with her ghost boss. I love that the game can be played in bite-size bits, because I can relax and play ten minutes without stressing or getting lost.

From the world map, players can choose which dungeons they will complete first. Helping out the shopkeeper will earn you some new items, so I highly recommend doing her quest first!

There’s a good ending and a bad ending. A virgin playthrough is possible. Regardless of how it’s done, all CGs are unlocked once you complete the game. The game has about four hours of content.

GRAPHICS

The art is standard Japanese anime style.

Everything in this game is fully animated. Thrusting, blowjobs, punching, and more! Both the fullscreen CGs and the pixel artworks are fully animated with short loops to convey the sexy actions taking place.

All character sprites and enemy sprites are fully unique to this developer. From stone golems to giant mushrooms, the enemy designs are always creative and well drawn. Although the game is focused on ghosts, their designs vary dramatically from floating hands to knots of magic ropes. If you’re tired of the typical RPG experience, this game will be a perfect change of pace.

Battles are entered via icon encounters rather than by random. This is perfect, because the dungeons in this game are absolutely enormous! The ghosts have turned everything into a maze, so it’s a smart idea to clear a room before running around the area.

Rather than imply a friend was defeated in battle, this game actually shows it! You can see how a veteran shrine maiden dealt with low-level foes before being smacked down by their leader! Watching the damage output of other characters was great for giving a sense of the protagonist’s power.

There are 50 scenes in total. Half are sex scenes involving the protagonist, while the other half are miscellaneous animations and sex with other girls. Many scenes have a variety of CGs, progressing from one sex act to the next.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Ghost Party has no voice acting.

The sex sound effects in this game were just plain silly. The thrusting sounded like paddle-ball and didn’t have any wetness at all! But the combat sound effects are perfectly fine, with stock assets usedthroughout. There are no swords or hammers, only fists, so things can get repetitive over time. Still, battles are generally short and easy, so it’s never too noticeable.

MUSIC

There are 57 songs on the soundtrack, though most go unused. The mix of stock assets with unique tracks was a welcome change from the standard digital synth music. The original tracks in this game utilize drums and bass guitar alongside a variety of eastern instruments. The flute matching the perfect rhythm was perfect, and I wish the game had more dramatic moments to give these tracks more opportunities to shine. This music is so fresh and energetic, I hope they use it again in future titles.

HENTAI

There are 50 scenes in total. 23 focus on the protagonist, 14 focus on other girls, and 13 are miscellaneous animations.

There’s actually more than 50 scenes. Many scenes have multiple artworks and multiple parts to show the sexiness rise over time. One scene might include a groping, then a blowjob, then sex. There’s a lot of sexual content here.

Many scenes have alternate versions. If it’s your first time having sex on your playthrough, you get a deflowering, otherwise it’s a regular sex scene. This changes the dialogue to reflect Mio’s deepening shame.

My favorite scene is the horny couple getting sexual. The boyfriend has a threesome fetish, and lets another man deflower his girlfriend! This was totally unexpected and I couldn’t look away as she experienced her first cock while calling out to her man!

All scenes are animated, and there are a handful of pixel animations. Erotic dialogue depends on the sex partner. While a mindless ghoul won’t talk much, there’s a huge variety of scenes including one with a married businesswoman! She has sex with the ghosts and can’t resist the truth, their cocks are better than her husband’s!

CONCLUDING WORDS

Ghost Party is a fantastic hentai RPG about women being violated by horny spirits! The animations are gorgeous, the sex scenes are hot, and the story is simple but interesting. If you’re looking for a well rounded title, this game is the one to play.
