STORY
Although this developer is well known for engaging stories and characters, this game is the exception. You and three girls have an isekai experience, now living in a medieval RPG world. These three girls will fuck you and become your harem.
Shery is the girl with light hair in a ponytail, she’s the prideful alchemist. Mirin is the primary waifu and warrior of the group, she has black hair. Mayako, nicknamed Milk-Cow, is the ditzy fortune teller of the group. Of course, they always wear their school uniforms and never really fulfill these roles.
Basically you walk around doing random quests until you fight and fuck the demon king, who is actually a sexy woman. Sex happens a bit randomly, and even though it’s a harem game, the male protagonist has little personality and does not care if the girls fuck other guys.
Since there are four main characters, conversations are naturally longer than other games. In fact, sometimes they just drag on and on. While attempts at humor are made, the lazy writing will leave you shrugging it off with a smirk.
Most secondary quests in the game involve your girls fucking other guys. Like when Mirin falls asleep in the woods and gets fucked by some old guy. These events feel hollow like they’re filling a check list or a scene quota, they’re not actual hot stories.
GAMEPLAY
Isekai Harem Fantasia was created in RPG Maker MV. Although the developers used engine in Princess Project, it seems they forgot how to use the engine between releases. In fact, he’s also forgotten the fundamentals of game design!
Where Princess Project offered a variety of unique gameplay features like a reputation system and character swapping for rescues and town events, this game does not. Where Artemis Pearl dropped you into the game after a short intro to let you experiment with the game mechanics, this game holds your hand all the way through. It honestly doesn’t feel like the same developer at all.
The gameplay is the standard RPG formula of killing monsters to level up. There is no use for money outside of purchasing gear. There is no text log, guide user interface, quest log, or ability to hide text boxes. Although Mirin levels up fast, she never feels that much stronger.
I am genuinely surprised such a well known and experienced developer would release a game so bare-bones in content. I wish there was more to talk about, but sadly, there is not.
GRAPHICS
Isekai Harem Fantasia was created in RPG Maker MV. Although the engine was previously used in Princess Project, it seems someone new is working at “Triangle“. All of the attention to detail that Triangle is known for, is nowhere to be found.
The pause menu interface is the RPG Maker default. The textures and sprites are pure stock assets. Text boxes and other miscellaneous visuals are also the default. There are no animations, and the artworks often have dead-eyed characters looking at nothing. Even the title screen is simplified and far less stylistic than previous titles. CGs repeat, and usually in noticeable and predictable ways. I wonder if the developer just gave up.
The MV engine has numerous drawbacks compared to others. For example, in other engines, leaving the window will pause the game. In MV, the game will continue, often in the worst way possible. For example, if you tapped the button to skip dialogue, it will continue skipping even when you aren’t looking. You can miss entire conversations, because MV keeps playing regardless of player intention.
This is the first time Triangle has released a game with a visually illustrated male protagonist. This was a great opportunity to showcase their talents but instead, we got a white shirt, black pants, short hair, and a forgettable face. It’s the most generic looking protagonist on the planet!
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
Isekai Harem Fantasia has no voice acting.
The sound effects are usually stock RPG Maker assets, and when they aren’t, they’re terrible. The sounds of masturbation were downright gross and almost made me sick to my stomach. Take me back to generic sword slashes, please! It would be better for the sex scenes not to have sound at all.
MUSIC
The soundtrack has 31 stock tracks from the RPG Maker library. While a handful are unusual, the vast majority are standard fare. Castle2, Battle3, Field1, the list goes on. This would be fine for a small indie developer, but not for a developer as old and respected as Triangle. They have the financial resources to use licensed tracks or create their own. Why didn’t they?
HENTAI
Isekai Harem Fantasia has 36 scenes total, with under 20 unique artworks. In spite of the “Harem” in the title, the majority of scenes in this game involve the girls fucking other men without your knowledge. If you consider them yours, then this game would qualify NTR. The girls treat the protagonist like a friend and occasional cock to use, so it didn’t feel like NTR.
The trope of the protagonist having a “lewd scent” that makes the women go wild for him is pretty repetitive. It’s not creative, and even indie developers tend to avoid it. Players want tangible setups in their hentai games.
While the artworks themselves are gorgeous, everything else is bad. The dialogue is uninspired, the setups are rushed, and there’s no animation whatsoever. You may as well view these photos here and be done, because playing the game will add little to the experience.
CONCLUDING WORDS
Isekai Harem Fantasia was a surprisingly bad game. We’ve covered this developer since their earliest titles, but in 2021, it seems they’ve given up. The visuals are engine defaults, the music is from the stock library, and the gameplay consists of pure battles with nothing creative whatsoever. What a sad day in hentai gaming history.
