STORY
The armies of Dai Lust have invaded Japan! The only one with the power to stop them is Beat Angel Escalayer! Using the power of her beating heart, she’ll defeat her foes and save the world!
As the childhood friend of Sayuka, you need to help her gather power to defeat the armies of Dai Lust! Whether it’s sex with you, or sex with other men, the sexual actions of Sayuka give her the power to fight the forces of evil!
Between large plot points, conversations are randomized and based on choices. You can even choose which sex act to perform next, which influences whether you’ll go down the brutal route or the love route of the game.
There are 7 unique endings in total, though two of them are only accessible after beating the game. The endings vary depending on your relationship with Sayuka. The true ending is the love route with Sayuka. Story-focused players should treat Sayuka well.
The story is told in a 34-day countdown. Every day, new enemies will appear and new story events become available. Because this game follows a set path, certain events are unavoidable like a mandatory futa sex scene and a scripted defeat mid-game.
While the game seems to progress naturally, on day 14 you’ll have to manually decide between the love route and the brutal route. This was irritating, because it locks you into a certain route regardless of your desires. The story is already painfully generic and predictable, the least the developer could have done is let things progress naturally!
CHARACTERS
You play as Kyouhei Yanase. You haven’t seen your childhood friend Sayuka in years. Since she’s Escalayer, she needs to gain power from sex. Will you be the one to satisfy her? Or will you loan her out to other men?
Sayuka Kouenji is the kind-hearted glasses girl you romance. Sayuka is the secret identity of Escalayer. She got her powers from her father. After her father is kidnapped, Sayuka is willing to obey your every command if it means getting him back.
Madoka Kouenji is the support android and sister of Sayuka. She is blunt and inconsiderate, a super logical piece of shit. Her green hair and maid outfit are super cute, but she can’t be romanced until you complete the game.
Ryouko Kiritani is the fake personality of General Mistrene. The general is hoping to learn more about Escalayer in order to defeat her. Once you complete the game, she becomes open for romancing and sex.
ALC is the mad scientist working for Dai Lust. He creates an escalayer clone, he makes spores that turn humans into frusts, and many other things. He is the most steadfastly evil character in the game.
GAMEPLAY
After an hour long intro, the game world finally opens up to the player. There is a 34-day countdown before the final battle. Level up as much as possible before the big showdown!
There are three basic things to do in this game. Have sex to raise your power level. Search the town to learn what enemies are in town. Do community service to raise the peace level. Each of these actions advances time in-game.
As time passes, you will fight enemies to raise the peace level and earn new abilities. Resting, upgrading stats, and assigning skills are all miscellaneous tasks that can be done without advancing in-game time.
Sex scenes spend libido dice. If the number of the dice roll is high enough, you can enter a scene without issue. This encourages players to pace themselves and view the softcore scenes early on when they have fewer dice.
Combat is simple, and makes you randomly choose from 4 abilities. This encourages you to think deeply about your skill loadout to maximize your chances of doing massive damage.
Throughout the game you’ll be given random dialogue choices that affect your stats. Some dialogue will raise Sayuka’s love stat, while other dialogue will raise the peace level. If peace drops too low, it’s game over, man!
You learn the game as you play, and you will make mistakes by design, which will make you want to replay the game. The only problem with this design is that the core gameplay loop is too bland to warrant a replay.
The gameplay is well designed, but way too easy. I maxed out power levels easily, which killed any challenge the game might have posed. Difficulty modes would have made this game ten times better.
GRAPHICS
The game has a Japanese anime art style. There are hundreds of fully colored images, it’s amazing! The body proportions and facial expressions are masterfully drawn. Sayuka is an absolute babe! Her lovely thick thighs match her wide hips and feminine curves. Her petite little sister Madoka always has a robotic blank-faced stare that makes me hungry to fill her with cum! All the girls look hot, but Sayuka and her sister are just my type.
While the art is beautifully drawn, it’s never very creative. The sex positions are always cowgirl, missionary, or Sayuka bent over a surface. While other games use silhouettes for male sex partners, the men are fully drawn here. The art and camera always focus on keeping male faces outside of the photo. While this keeps the focus on Sayuka, the bad thing is how limiting this perspective can be.
On top of this, far too many CGs are difficult to find. You either have to lose a battle or fight a “Frust Monster” on the exact day it arrives. If you don’t fight the monster, it disappears from the game and the scene is inaccessible unless you load to the previous day. Giving sexual encounters these strict barriers means that most players will miss over half the scenes regardless of skill level.
This game features an anime opening and an anime transformation scene. The fully moving characters have a lot of life behind them and I adored these video presentations. The video OVAs are honestly more erotic than many scenes in game.
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
Beat Angel Escalayer has full Japanese voice acting for all characters. This includes male characters.
While Madoka has a monotone voice for her robotic self, Sayuka has a loving and kind-hearted voice that’s classic for an anime childhood friend. My favorite voice tracks were from the random men who saw the lewd things Sayuka was doing! From their stellar delivery, I really got the impression that I was breaking taboos fucking her in public!
The sound effects in this game are realistic and fitting. For example, the alarm clock literally made my eyes widen from how real it was. And the sound effect for ejaculation was quiet while still making an impact. The sound design in this game is truly magical.
The one flaw with this game is Escalayer’s weapon, a magic ribbon. It hardens at her command to become like a sword, but is generally just a ribbon. There is no good sound effect to convey this type of weapon.
MUSIC
The soundtrack includes 27 songs, all of them movie quality. “Escalation Heart” is the main theme of the game and would fit perfectly into an anime. Electric guitar and drums are featured, but never used to create a hardcore beat. The music is often melodic in nature. The use of these instruments is very disciplined, never running off into solos or other generic quirks. From a single listen you can tell these tracks were made for a video game experience.
Throughout the story the music design is downright fantastic. Whether it cuts to silence, or slows in pace for a loving scene, the music always matches the events of the story perfectly. The use of electric piano and digitally synthesized beats fits the heroic android girl perfectly. It’s a great experience, even if the tracks are predictable.
HENTAI
Beat Angel Escalayer has 68 base scenarios. Most scenarios have three variations. For example, stage one scene might feature a simple blowjob, while at stage three the man will piss inside of Escalayer. There are easily 150 scenes in this game.
In one scene Escalayer is transported into the world of Snow White to have sex with the seven dwarves. In another scene she is defeated by the final boss and fucked on camera, broadcasted across the entire earth. In yet another scene, beast cum is poured through a tube directly into her pussy. There is literally no way to predict what will happen next.
25 of the base scenarios require a loss in battle. You may have to target a specific enemy on a specific day. This means that you’ll complete the game missing many of the best scenes. If you want to see the Escalayer prostitute herself to a random otaku in a comic book store, you need to lose in battle to the exact enemy who has that scene.
While the game may be advertised as netorare impregnation, this isn’t what you may think. First of all, you convince her to have sex with other men, so she’s not really stolen. Second of all, giving birth to slugs and tadpoles is not the traditional impregnation most anime fappers are looking for.
It seems like the developer did the vanilla sex scenes begrudgingly, with most of his effort going into the hardcore content. While the love route has very bland scenes of missionary sex in various locations, the brutal scenes are totally wild and unique with monster horse cocks and endless amounts of cum.
My favorite scene was making Sayuka have sex with a homeless bum. She even comments about this, saying her reputation in this town is ruined. Once Dai Lust are defeated, she plans to move out. This is one of the few eroge where public sex has consequences!
CONCLUDING WORDS
Beat Angel Escalayer is a fantastic visual novel with too many fetishes to count. While the gameplay and story are predictable, the music is lovely and the voice acting is fantastic. All hardcore fetishes can be avoided or skipped if you want a pure love route. No matter what mood you’re in, this game has something for everybody.
