STORY

Although the premise of the game may seem simple, the execution is anything but! From the moment you start this game, the writing is on a level above the rest, and gives clever answers to any potential questions you may have, while also fleshing out the world.

For example, the game instructs you to be cautious and avoid revealing your identity as a former noble. Whether its an enemy attempting to kill you or an ally attempting to marry you; revealing your identity would be a major mistake. One of the ways this comes up in the story is when a rival noble family kidnaps you, so that you will marry their son. In this way, through marriage, they would have legal right to your family lands. So if you trusted them hoping they would help, you may have actually doomed Lycia into an unwanted arranged marriage.

The game is filled with countless plot points like these. By passively giving the player pieces of information about the world, the author is prepping us to make proper choices or risk the consequences of our actions. Like how the game explicitly tells you that Lycia has no talent for swordplay but has a great talent for magic. If you spend all your money learning sword skills, you’ll end up regretting it! Simply put, the dialogue matters!

In terms of an overall plot, the stakes rise naturally in the background of the general experience. While you focus on accumulating money and prestige as an adventurer, the relationships you build along the way have the potential to pay off dividends in the end-game.

Although there are countless bad endings, there are only two good endings. The standard ending occurs when you ignore the major side quests of the game, while the “Grand Ending” occurs by fully exploring these side plots that build up to a major climax. I actually got the grand ending by accident, simply because the side characters are so damn lovable!

Without a doubt, I strongly encourage you to play this game for the story and characters. While it may seem unimpressive on its surface, this is truly a hidden gem for fans of quality writing in an RPG setting.

GAMEPLAY

Fallen Noble Lycia was created in RPG Maker MV, rendering it compatible with MTOOL translation software. Like most RPG Maker games, the default is to play via keyboard controls with the arrow keys and other buttons.

The game is advertised as being 10-15 hours, depending on which ending you’re aiming for, and that is absolutely right! My playthrough clocked in at 14 hours but it didn’t feel that way at all! Rather, the core gameplay loop was so engaging, I was borderline addicted to playing more! As I finished the game, I wrote into my notes “I hope they make a sequel” and I strongly feel that even now.

Much like Grand Theft Auto 5, this game is built upon a character switching system where each individual has their own benefits and drawbacks. The main character Lycia is the only one who can do adventuring quests and use complex magic spells, but she is unable to work most of the jobs in town. Her attendant, Rosetta, is an excellent swordsman who can perform many jobs in town, including working for the noble family that is essential to achieving the Grand Ending to the game. Each character has separate skills, levels, and sex stats. Which means you can make one a whore and leave the other a virgin, or vice versa.

At the start of the game, your map is largely empty. But as you progress, you’ll unlock new areas and abilities that expand your possibilites as an adventurer. In the early game this is especially important, because rent is due on a regular basis. Since you’re no longer a noble, you’ll have to manage your money well to both purchase training while still saving up for rent payments on a regular basis.

While I could write an essay about the insane attention to detail this game offers, I’d rather illustrate the point with a single exciting example: Pregnancy. If one girl gets pregnant, you have to exclusively play as the other until you make 50,000 gold to get a “time reverse” magic abortion. If both girls get pregnant, they are unable to support themselves and are forced to move to the slums where they become hopeless. And yes, pregnant sex is possible. If you’re having trouble making the gold, you may have to have sex during your pregnancy.

That’s just one game mechanic! The developer has such an intense attention to detail that this game truly stands out above all the rest. He even resolved the age old problem of hentai games “Why does life go on normally after impregnation”. Because the plot device is a time reversal potion, the main characters can continue their lives as normal, which allows for the game to continue after you got an impregnation scene.

Without rambling any further, I’ll state the obvious. The gameplay is engaging, addictive, and always full of surprises. There were no bugs in my playthrough, and no major flaws throughout the experience.

GRAPHICS

The visuals of this game are unlike any other. If you’ve already glanced at the store page, you’ll know what I mean. The question is “Why does the art on the store page look different than the art in this review?”, the answer is, because the developer released the game in 2021 but has continued improving it even into 2023. When you buy the game, you get a complimentary download package that allows you to choose between the old 2021 artwork or the newer 2023 artwork shown in this review. What’s the difference?

The main differences are in Rosetta. Her old character design was not as tall, which made her large breasts seem a bit goofy and unbelievable. In the new design, she’s more slender, and her breasts fit her frame in a more attractive fashion. Other parts of the game were also improved, like Lycia recieving more expressive artworks with wide eyes that convey more emotion. Ultimately its up to personal preference, but I strongly believe the new artwork surpasses the old greatly.

Aside from the unprecedented choice of dual graphics packages, what else does this game have to offer? To start with, every scene allows for an x-ray view to see the cum and semen enter Lycia or Rosetta. And if you don’t use protection, there’s a cut-in image for a sperm cell penetrating the egg and impregnating the girl. Most scenes also feature variations depending on whether the character was a virgin or not. If you love deflowering blood, then this game is going to satisfy you like no other.

There are also multiple side characters like the busty merchant girl or the petite archeologist Miranda. These girls have their own unique sex scenes for when you get tired of the main waifus. One of the side characters is named Kanon, and she has multiple scenes that convey such heavy emotion, I almost cried hearing her backstory. If you can’t relate, I encourage you to play further into the game and see what I mean.

Outside of the beautiful CGs and standing artworks, you’ll notice how simply expansive the game can be. From the world map you can see countless icons, each encompassing its own dungeon or village! It goes without saying that each location has its own style and charm, with the final battlefield of the game being among the most memorable. This game is proof that proper world design is far more valuable than shiny licensed texture packs. So long as you like the character designs, this game is going to rock your world.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Fallen Noble Lycia has no voice acting.

The sound design in this game is fantastic. Recall that there are two playable characters, each with their own fighting style. When you play as Lycia, you’ll be hearing fireballs explode and lightning magic zap your foes! When you play as Rosetta, the curves of your sword as you cut and slash through enemies with special skills make each kill impactful and memorable. Outside of combat, the sound effects like ejaculation during sex do wonders to convey the sensation of a womb being filled with “millions” of sperm. Hearing the sound effects alone are enough to make me hard as a rock!

MUSIC

There are 82 music tracks in total, though the majority are stock assets of digitally synthesized music from the RPG Maker Library. Some tracks like the violin and piano played during combat scenes matched with electric guitar, stand out as truly great! Meanwhile, other tracks are more forgettable and function more as background noise when talking to NPCs. Overall, the music is servicable, but the game shines brightest in its other traits.

HENTAI

There are 65 scenes total. The bulk are split between Lycia and Rosetta, but plenty of side characters also have their moments to shine. Generally speaking, the game is focused on being defeated in battle and getting creampied. While there are prostitution events more focused on general lust, there are no scenes where the protagonists have boyfriends or something like that. If you want those dicks to have names attached to them, you’d be better off playing a visual novel.

As a part of that focus, the sex positions in this game are limited to missionary or doggystyle. Although there is the occasional cowgirl sex scene, its more of an occasional treat. In this game, the men are big and muscular, while the women are soft and love to receive. In retrospect, that’s a very limiting way to build a game, but it never felt limiting. The artwork is drawn so well, it hardly crosses your mind that you’ve seen a particular position before.

For example, one missionary scene is drawn from a POV perspective looking into the eyes of your partner, while another scene is also missionary but more of a top-down view so you can see the sex from outside of the POV view, and at a different angle.

Animations are limited to battle defeats, as seen in the game trailer. In practice, animations are rare and hard to find. The bulk of the content is related to talking to specific NPCs or performing specific jobs in town. The girls can become slutty, but most of the time the dialogue is focused on unwanted creampies and how the girl is going to “charge you more” for doing that.

Truthfully, the artwork and plot carries the hentai. The more you care about the characters, the more dramatic it is to see them lose their virginity or get impregnated.

CONCLUDING WORDS

Fallen Noble Lycia is one of the best games we’ve reviewed this year. The story is writing is incredible, the gameplay is addictive, and the choice of two art styles gives the game a level of replayability uncommon for RPG style games. If you love RPGs, this is simply a must-play experience.
