Gold Scientist, a hentai RPG developed by Nuko Majin. Released December 7, 2016. Download on DLSite.com for $14.00. For PC Windows. No voice acting. Censored genitals. Free demo available. Download the English fan translation patch.

Maria is a talented researcher in the field of artificial life forms. One day, her daughter is kidnapped. Left with no choice but to fight, Maria challenges the mysterious Institute and fights to save her daughter!

Before trying this game, please read our guide how to download DLSite games.

STORY

Maria deleted her research data as she fled the Institute with her daughter. They started a new life together, and it was perfect, until the Institute caught up with her, and burned her home to the ground. With a missing daughter and no home to return to, Maria must now fight and defeat the Institute to save her daughter’s life!

There is no overall story. Harvest ingredients, perform alchemy, make money, and save the day. Money can be spent on more ingredients or bodyguards to accompany you in combat. Hentai content can be completely avoided if you so choose. There is no “bad ending” or “pervert ending”, there is only one ending. Save your daughter!

There is no personality, style, or tension behind the writing. It seems like the author meant to do more with the story, but stretched himself too thin. Bounty hunters, legendary monsters, a mysterious institute, it’s all too much! None of these concepts are given enough attention, leading to a painfully disappointing experience. Artificial life forms and shape mimicry are interesting ideas, but sadly, this game drops them as soon as the intro is over.

GAMEPLAY

Gold Scientist was created with RPG TKool MV, the worst version of the RPG Maker engine. Press your keyboard’s arrow keys to move. Hold the X button to skip dialogue.

In an attempt to break the normal RPG grind, the developer created an incomprehensible mess. The protagonist cannot level up and instead relies on items and hired thugs. Players can only attack Institute facilities at night time, and cannot take any thugs inside. There are bounty hunter contracts that you can complete for extra money. None of this is explained to the player, which leads to many horrible moments of confusion.

I spent all my money on hired thugs, then tried to invade the Institute facilities. Sadly, they could not enter, meaning I had wasted all of my money for no reason at all. This terrible moment was one out of many in this game. It all could have been avoided if the developer simply gave warnings or explained the basic features.

There were plenty of features in this game that make me believe the developer was planning for more. For example, there are only two institute buildings to destroy. The introductory dialogue makes it seem like there will be more, but sadly it’s a short-lived experience. The same applies to bounties. It all seems very incomplete.

The difficulty spikes in this game at random intervals. The dungeon bosses will usually be a hundred times stronger than what you’d expect, and many enemies that you defeat will return again with full health.

This game will take a long while to complete, but that’s mostly because of the backtracking and constant grind for alchemy ingredients. The content is padded and not nearly as engaging as you’d expect.

GRAPHICS

The art is Japanese anime style. The focus of the game is on Maria’s lewd antics.

The visual presentation of this game is a mixed bag. Sometimes dialogue scenes are animated with engaging movement. Other times the bounty notification screen will malfunction, making the game very dark until you leave the dungeon. Sometimes you find a cool feature, like the ability to toggle glasses off. Other times, the frame rate drops dramatically.

Although there are 50 hentai scenes, between 5-10 base images are used in all of them. The missionary POV artwork appeared in at least ten different scenes. I was disappointed that my work to track down the scene was not properly rewarded. Worse still, a lack of unique artwork means that the scenes lack impact and aren’t very memorable.

Sometimes the recollection room malfunctions, leading to images blending together in an incomprehensible mess. This is especially likely to happen if you click away from the game. Unlike other RPG Maker engines, this one keeps the game running when you click off! Time still progresses and things still happen.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Gold Scientist has no voice acting.

The sound effects in this title are mostly standard RPG Maker stock content. The few occasions you hear unique sounds is when a bed creaks with a man’s thrusting. I enjoyed the sound design, but it could have been better. The enemy death sound is the same whether you face a bee or an ogre. That one was very disappointing.

MUSIC

The soundtrack includes over 125 songs, most of which are never used. The songs are almost all stock assets from the RPG Maker library. This means there’s a heavy use of digitally synthesized guitar and pitch-perfect xylophone. While it may sound pleasing, the songs loop at terrible times, taking you out of the moment.

HENTAI

The game has over 50 sex scenes, but less than half of them feature a unique CG. All scenes have hints and playback mechanics in the recollection room. Sex stats can be accessed from the pause menu.

This game is completely vanilla. Although it may be tagged with “virginity”, “lesbians”, “tentacles”, and “prostitution” – this is false advertising. The protagonist is a mother, so it’s impossible for her to be a virgin. Even if she was a virgin, there’s no deflowering scene. The other fetishes only get a single scene each.

There is no real corruption. Hentai level does not affect your ending, nor does it affect how NPCs treat you. Maria can sleep with someone’s husband and be a homewrecker, and no-one will care.

Zooming and panning is used frequently during sex scenes, but also badly. Its very common for the developer to zoom to the border of a photo so we can see the cut-off where the leg ends. This ruins any illusion of seeing a real woman, which makes this a painfully dull experience. Without animations or interesting dialogue, there is nothing to brag about.

CONCLUDING WORDS

Gold Scientist is a painfully generic hentai RPG. The gameplay is flawed, the frame rate is random, and the story is dull. I recommend you download a completed save file to view the sex scenes. The game itself is below average.

Maria is actually a virgin as Alice was cloned from her just like how the characters that they’re based on from Black Cat and To Love-Ru mangas. Also, you can level up. I’m assuming you used the fan translation version which unfortunately causes gameplay issues in certain areas which isn’t a problem for the original JP version. However, you can ONLY level up by using the Trance skills as Maria getting stronger is directly tied to her usage of her special abilities. The more she uses them the stronger she gets at the cost of her getting more and more corrupted by her powers. You can essentially one man army the game with just her from start to finish.

That aside the game is pretty generic yeah. The game itself is again just a parody of the story of Tearju Lunatique and Eve from Black Cat/To Love-Ru mangas (by Yabuki Kentaro and Hasemi Saki) that serves an excuse for players to see Tearju (aka Maria) getting fucked silly.
