STORY
Estelle is training to become a knight. She sets off on a quest with her sword and some gold, determined to make her dream come true. But she has a lot to learn: The first cute girl she meets on the road, she trusts her completely. A catgirl named Tart tricks her, ties her up, steals her belongings and leaves her to be ravaged by slime monsters!
Shortly after her ravaging sexual encounter, another adventurer named Felicia happens upon the scene and rescues Estelle. Felicia is also looking for Tart for a similar crime committed against her. Sharing a common goal, Estelle and Felicia set off together on a journey to find Tart and get their stuff back. Along the way they get to know each other better and meet new friends.
The characters are cute and fluffy and made of sugar and spice. But there is no real character development for anyone. The game sets up several story threads that aren’t resolved, and promises a sequel.

GAMEPLAY
Sakura Knight is a kinetic novel. The game can be completed in under two hours. Gameplay is limited to clicking the screen to “turn the pages”. The game has no choices and only one ending. The menu screen has a different layout from previous Winged Cloud games. There is a Gallery option where you can view game artwork. Use the ‘auto’ and ‘skip’ buttons to speed through dialogue you already read.
Every so often you are presented with choices. These decisions have no impact on the story. These choices result in slightly altered dialogue. Some choices unlock a new CG. The game has basic visual novel functionality. There are plenty of save slots available.

GRAPHICS
The graphics for Sakura Knight are on par with previous Winged Cloud titles. There are 12 CGs available which is double the number they usually add for their games. The artwork is top tier quality with beautifully drawn characters and backgrounds. Artwork features beautiful vibrant colors. Shadows are light but expertly used while edge lines are thin and barely noticeable.
There is a good assortment of background artwork. The game has day-time and night-time scenes. The artworks have the right amount of detail, as to not be distracting. Some pieces feature water. The look and feel of the liquid is beautifully realized, and really caught my eye.
Characters have soft bodies with plump breasts. Facial features, attire, hair style and color sets apart each of the heroines. All the characters have uniquely defined personalities that fall into a certain stereotype. Character sprites have limited facial expressions. The camera angle makes sure to show off the girls in the cutest way possible.

SOUND EFFECTS AND VOICE ACTING (SFX)
Sakura Knight has no voice acting.
Sound effects are very limited. Throughout the game I could only hear bushes rustling and slime monster wiggling.
MUSIC
The music in Sakura Knight is good. Soundtrack has limited songs. There is an excellent variety of genres. The musical selection is composed using real instruments including the xylophone, guitar, violin, keyboard and several wind instruments.
Music in Sakura Knight doesn’t feel disruptive and adds to the world building. Most songs have a classical sword and sorcery vibe from your favourite isekai anime. The tracks help establish the mood and atmosphere. One track sounds like someone is tippy-toeing across the screen. It’s played during moments of sneakiness or tomfoolery. It is cute and evokes a warm feeling. Other music evokes an energetic feel to them. Music during intimate moments is slow.

HENTAI
Like most Winged Cloud titles, this game has virtually no sex and no penetration. Sakura Knight focuses on cute and intimate yuri encounters and sexual situations. Felicia strips Estelle in the middle of the public much to her embarrassment. The city folk cheer her on and encourage her to strip completely naked but she is too ashamed. Later that evening you get the chance to receive a cute foot massage from Felicia. While out adventuring together, the two of you take a bath in the forest. This is the kind of stuff you’re in for.
There are more sexy encounters such as being sexually molested by a slime monster. Estelle and Felicia both have their pussies played with before being rescued. Estelle also gets her breasts groped in a short scene near the end.

CONCLUDING WORDS
Sakura Knight is another paint-by-the-numbers installment in Winged Cloud’s ‘Sakuraverse’. The artwork is beautiful and the music passable, but the ecchi content is weaker than usual. The script is fine with flawless grammar, although the story is very basic. There’s a lot of unresolved plot threads which will hopefully be resolved in the sequel.
