The prison tower is rumored to hold legendary treasure. The lure of sudden wealth is irresistible to the young lady Aldy. She’s determined to reach the top and claim it as her own; but if she isn’t careful, she might get claimed herself!
STORY
While only two hours long, the story and characters are well-written that they’ll stay in your mind for years to come. I recommend you beat all the event bosses. If you skim and speed through, you’ll miss out on plenty of saucy content.
Without spoiling things, I’ll say that the themes of the game are built upon a war between humans and monsters that calls into question if monsters are a part of nature, or created by our own actions. Moreover, when we call someone evil, can we truly know their heart? What if they’re playing a part, but their true self is the opposite of how they appear?
These themes come together in the fantastic ending, but for the vast majority, it is just a simple erotic RPG. You’re an adventurer chick and your friend is a blonde merchant hottie. You both have bravely set forth into this tower, but with different motivations. The bulk of the dialogue is about the duo journeying to the top of the tower and deepening their friendship along the way. It’s so well written, that when we get the “Happily Ever After” ending, it feels well-earned and satisfying.
GAMEPLAY
Aldy’s Treasure Hunt was created in RPG Maker MV, and is a simple level-up title. The entire game takes place in the “Prison Tower”, so there is no resource system. Instead, the focus of the game is on finding chests with new items and spells. When you collect all the spells of a certain genre, you get the ultimate at your disposal. This encourages you to explore the randomized dungeon levels to find the best equipment, spells, and elixir items to help you last. This game may not be mechanically complex, but it is well crafted and satisfying as a solid two-hour experience.
The experienced is focused on being approachable and relaxing, rather than a commitment.
Event monsters have a heart above their head. They are high-level and great for experience points, but if you lose to them, you’ll get a sex scene. Sadly though, this game does not have corruption or sex stats. Although the sex scenes are hot, they have no in-game consequences.
Completing the game will unlock all ten scenes in the recollection room as well as a bonus boss. Defeating the bonus boss gives more lore about the final villain, which I strongly recommend exploring.
GRAPHICS
There are 10 scenes in the recollection room. Each main character has 8 unique facial expressions. Each sex scene features 1 base CG with up to 10 variation images. These images are not simply the addition of blush or some other minor change. The image variations showcase the girl’s progression into further states of undress. You see skirt lifting, panties dropping, full nudity, and every other step of the erotic scenario. In terms of the full-screen artwork, this game is damn near perfect.
Stock assets from the RPG Maker library are used to present the sprites and textures. This is especially disappointing for flashbacks that try to evoke emotions. The writing really carries the story. Similarly, the environmental design is lacking. When you finally meet the main villain, it’s in a standard “Villain Throne Room” that you can download from the RPG Maker library. I love the fullscreen artworks and standing art, but the actual world is sadly generic.
VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)
Aldy’s Treasure Hunt features no voice acting.
The sound effects are standard assets from the RPG Maker Library. Although they are used effectively, the sound design of the game is restricted by the setting. With the entire game taking place in a magic prison tower, there aren’t exactly opportunities for snowball fights or other unique sounds. Somehow visual novels tend to outperform RPGs in terms of sound design.
MUSIC
There are 34 songs on the soundtrack, and although the vast majority are stock assets from the RPG Maker library, the game knows when to use lesser-known and/or unique tracks to make for memorable moments. In particular, the main menu has a unique piano theme that makes a great first impression. And the flashback sequences with the sad music are equally nice.
HENTAI
There are 10 erotic scenes in total. Some show slimes and tentacles, which personally aren’t my cup of tea. The other scenes are downright hot! You see missionary creampie sex, sex in the cowgirl position, the blonde stripping down, and so much more! My favorite scene is when the goblin has doggystyle sex with your merchant companion. She’s an inexperienced girl from a well-off background, and her family expects great things from her! Meanwhile, she’s bent over, stuffed by a goblin!
My main issue is the lack of animations and extra details. I would love an x-ray view to see the cum filling her pussy. Or what about virginity? There is no defloration or blood for either of these girls, which can be a major letdown for those who love virgin babes. Even if the developer didn’t intend to create detailed sex stats, he could at least identify the girls as virgins, since it would add another fetish to the list. As it stands, the game is mostly vanilla content, but still very hot.
CONCLUDING WORDS
Aldy’s Treasure Hunt is a fantastic short erotic game. The visuals are gorgeous, the sex scenes are hot, the gameplay is alright, and the story! The story is my main reason for strongly recommending this experience. I enjoyed the storytelling so fucking much. While there are RPG Maker stock assets that can mess with your immersion and fun, the developer’s corner-cutting doesn’t destroy the interesting ideas they wanted to impart to readers.
