STORY

You play as a nameless, generic male who’s going through the motions in his everyday life. After another day surfing the web, you get a craving for cup noodles. Upon leaving the house to visit the convenience store, you get hit by the truck. An utterly tragic death, or so one would think… until you wake up in a vibrant fantasy world.

There are no rules here except to win whatever fights you get into, and death is but a silly notion with a suspicious, immortal creature looking out for you. Isekai Quest has no story. There is only a single thing you need to do – and that is to conquer the hearts and pussies of gorgeous anime women!

Despite the non-existent plot, the heroines in Isekai Quest elevates the game beyond the usual generic match-3 puzzle games. Character dialogues provide just enough characterization to keep you invested, and more importantly, they can be hilarious. There are plenty of times where I bust out laughing after certain characters say stuff to break the fourth wall. You might not have a great game without a story, but you can definitely have a fun one.

GRAPHICS

Isekai Quest uses a distinct Japanese anime art style. The art for the game seems to be done by the same artist, everything from the live 2D animation to the character models retaining the same, consistent style. There was never a moment the immersion was broken by poor quality CGs and sprites. Every character has their own outfits, unique hairstyles and body types, and they are all gorgeous. There’s nothing to pick at for character design here.

Overall, the game’s art mostly favours a softer colour palette. While the colours are vibrant, they aren’t to the point of obscenity. The animated hentai scenes use a slightly different art style, seeming to be painted using soft brush strokes compared to the regular game art, which favours clean digital used in typically used in CGs.

GAMEPLAY

If you’ve played any hentai puzzle games before, then you’ll be familiar with the gameplay in Isekai Quest. To attack, match three or more of the same type of tiles. Green ones heal, blue fills your mana bar, and the red and yellow are used to attack your opponent. Use gold coins to purchase items from the store for extra boosts, like refilling your health or eradicating your opponent’s debuffs.

You get randomized cards at the end of each match. These can range from stat upgrades, like increasing your health, to the usual in-game items.

The game also utilizes something called the Love Meter. Each battle you win fills the meter, and once you win a total of three battles, you unlock the option to fuck that character. Take note that you’ll need to have a condom in your inventory before you can fuck any girls. If you don’t, you’ll have to battle the character again after buying the condom in order to sleep with her. Battles get progressively harder with each battle, so it’s something you should avoid.

HENTAI

Unlocking the hentai is straightforward. You have to battle and win each character three times in order to max out their love meter to fuck them. I encountered one character that required me to make a certain choice before I dicked her, but it seems to be the only outlier.

The hentai in Isekai Quest has to be earned. It’s troublesome, but it’s definitely worth the effort. You battle the girl into submission before enjoying your spoils. The type personality they have seems to factor into how you get to fuck them. The uptight knight, for example, is completely submissive when faced with the power of your dick. All she does is lay there as you pound her senseless and fill her with cum.

Sex in the game is pretty vanilla, so hardcore kink lovers will find themselves disappointed. However, the hentai overall is wonderfully erotic. You get around two to three sex scenes per character, ranging from sloppy handjobs to doggystyle fucking. You also get some degree of control over the animated sex scenes, like controlling how fast your character’s dick pounds your anime wife’s succulent pussy. It’s nice to have the option to loop your hentai until you bust a nut.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Isekai Quest features Japanese voice acting. It matches perfectly with the anime visuals. What’s even better is how well done the partially voiced lines are, which can be heard during battle sequences. The way the voice actors deliver their unique battle lines and attacks make each character very distinguishable.

Characters also have responses to getting hurt. A tiny, suppressed grunt of pain as you land a successful hit. A gasp of shock when you rob them of their gold coins. It’s remarkable how the game delivers above and beyond its asking price. 

There is a decent number of sound effects. The player’s actions will trigger the appropriate effect, like matching a set of tiles or using an item. Gaining gold coins from your opponent, for example, triggers a hearty jingle of coins. There are also unique sound effects for each character, like the rapid fire of bullets when the gun wielding elf executes her special attack.

MUSIC

The game has limited music, but what’s present is fairly impressive. The menu’s opening track makes use of wind instruments to create a suitably epic theme. Battles feature a deceptively simple track that uses violins and a piano, but manages to maintain a constant sense of tension. Hentai scenes make use of chill, lofi beats to get you in the mood. Though the music can get repetitive, I still quite enjoyed it.

CONCLUDING WORDS

If you’ve ever dreamt of being isekai’d to another world, then this game is for you. It scratched an itch I didn’t even realize I had. The devs frequently update and have promised to provide more free content, which means you get fantastic bang for your buck. Get the game to support them, and wank to your heart’s content!
