STORY

The storytelling in this game is horrendous. It’s not sexy, it’s not satisfying, the characters behave like terrible people and the ending sucks. Let’s go over this clusterfuck.

Half the dialogue keeps referencing a spin-off prequel the developer was planning to come after. There’s at least ten different times that characters reference Marina’s youthful days back when she dated her ex-boyfriend. It gets so repetitive, it almost felt like this game was just an advertisement for that other game.

Every line of dialogue in this game makes you hate the husband. Marina says she does not want to cheat again, but you keep pressuring her until she does. She says “I’m happiest when I’m with you, even if you don’t feel the same”, and the protagonist shrugs it off. After she fucks the guy from the first game, you just sit around and don’t enjoy it, making both of them feel bad. She explicitly tells you she’s doing everything she can to make you satisfied and it’s still not enough.

Then, you ask Marina to have an emotional affair and to give her heart to another man. She does, which includes sleeping at his place and making him dinner. By the end of the game, she is genuinely planning to leave you. At first it was all an act, but after seeing how little you care, she seriously says she’s leaving you.

The new guy has promised to take care of Marina and your child, all he wants is for you to divorce her. You tell him “you ruined my marriage!”. The new guy and Marina both point out that you forced Marina into cheating and having this affair. In fact you’ve had her fuck three different guys by now, all for the sake of your fetish. The one who destroyed your marriage, is you.

Throughout the game Marina constantly insults you and questions your loyalty. She even claims you don’t want sex with her, you want to be cuckolded. You don’t see her for who she is, you see her as an object of gratification. On top of that, your daughter has gotten suspicious of you and knows you’re mistreating Marina. Your daughter hasn’t discovered the cuckolding yet, but she’s constantly getting more suspicious.

At the end of the game, Marina is fully intent on divorcing you and taking your daughter. But you say “I love you” and she changes her mind. Then the new guy forces himself on her and tells you both to get out of his house. What the fuck?

GAMEPLAY

Marina’s Cuckolding Report 3 is a visual novel. Click the screen to ‘turn the page’. Press CTRL to skip dialogue. Scroll up to review past dialogue. Bookmark your progress by saving it on several available save slots. Press spacebar to hide the dialogue box. The game has zero choices and will take four hours to complete.

GRAPHICS

The art is in Japanese anime style. Unlike previous games, the visuals are drawn in a realistic fashion without emphasis on color tints.

The entire game takes place indoors at the couple’s home. If you play the bonus scenes, the point of view character is the wife. You’ll see her visiting the ex-boyfriend’s apartment.

The art is still the same quality Atelier Sakura is known for. However, this game does show a lack of love and care put into the visuals. For example, sweat marks are copy and pasted all around, even on weird places like hands and kneecaps. It’s completely absurd how many sweat marks are copy pasted throughout the scenes, and also incredibly unrealistic.

After two games, the artist has clearly run out of inspiring scenarios. You have a footjob, some cowgirl sex, a lot of these visuals seem very similar to previous games. And the ex-boyfriend has an inhuman, unrealistic stare in every scene. While Marina is hyper expressive, Shindou has the same blank faced appearance in every scene.

There are also multiple occasions of weird anatomy, like Marina’s breasts having no sideboob, only connected to her body at the top. And the size of her breasts varies dramatically. In the bathroom scene, her right boob is bigger than her entire head! While these visuals are gorgeous on the surface, they show a serious decline in quality from past titles.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

The daughter and the wife enjoy full Japanese voice acting. The male characters are silent. This is especially noticeable because all male characters from previous games make an appearance.

A year has passed since the second game, the characters are older and more mature. Marina’s voice has a bit more bass but still retains a feminine squeal during sex. Your daughter Saki has grown up from a preschooler to a third grader. Although her voice is still high, it has a more stable pitch than you’d expect from her age. These actresses did a great job at conveying the aging in the voices.

There’s an echo in the bathroom that’s far stronger than what you’d expect. And Marina screams in bed like a crazy person, where she used to moan in pleasure. It seems like the developer wanted to make the audio in this game distinct, he over-designed things.

Sound effects are also a mixed bag. While times like phone dial tones are super realistic, there’s other times where the sound effect for vaginal sex is used during a footjob. When it comes to audio, you never know what you’re going to get.

MUSIC

There are 12 tracks in total, but seven are carried over from the previous games. While the past soundtrack emphasized lust and excitement, this one is more melancholic. Track 9 in particular, felt like an early 1990s love song.

Finger snaps are used instead of drums. Bass guitar is mixed with a synthesizer and piano style instrumental to create a relaxing beat. The synthesizer mimics instruments like a harp to retain a realistic feeling. Meanwhile the main theme emphasizes violin and wind chimes to create a more dramatic, adventurous soundtrack. I really loved these songs, and would be happy to hear them repeated in future games.

HENTAI

There are 17 scenes displayed through 30 unique artworks. This is because some of the scenes feature multiple sex positions.

The difficulty in writing a third cuckolding experience is acknowledged by the author in a fourth wall break. The male protagonist outright says “This isn’t as hot as it used to be”, and it’s clear to see why. She already stayed overnight before, skipped condoms before, and said “I love you” before. And since it’s confirmed she’s on birth control, there isn’t as much tension as the first game.

What’s worse is how the author fails to revitalize old ideas. For example, calling Marina on the phone while she fucks another guy. In the first game she lies and says they aren’t fucking, and it’s hot. In this game she does the same thing, and the husband goes ballistic.

This game hardly ever uses cut-in images or unique ideas like silhouettes. I liked the doggystyle scenes, but I wish they further emphasized how deep he was inside her. Instead, the positions look taken from porn films, emphasizing all her curves, even if the sex on screen doesn’t look very comfortable. Classic positions like missionary and spooning are simply neglected.

In one scene, Marina has you watch as she masturbates. In another, she has you watch as she masturbates, but this time she is talking on the phone with her lover. This didn’t need to be two scenes, it could have been combined into one. It almost feels like the developer is stretching out his tiny pool of ideas to make the game playable.

CONCLUDING WORDS

Marina’s Cuckolding Report 3 is the perfect example of why cuckold games don’t have sequels. With all taboos broken, all choices made, all words already said, what is left to be done? While the visuals and music are fantastic, everything else is uninspired. If you enjoy your NTR games with heart-rending drama that undermines the entire fetish, play this now.
