STORY
You are a down-in-the-dumps guy with the worst luck in the world. You recently got rejected from a promising job interview and your girlfriend broke up with you. That’s when you come across the local shrine and meet two cute cat girls who claim to have magical powers that will dispel your bad luck!
Despite their best attempts, the girls can’t seem to get rid of your bad luck but vow to stick around until the matter is settled. They move in with you and drain all the money left in your pocket. The rest of the game is filled with generic harem anime shenanigans.
The writing for Neko Miko is cute but generic. There is a checklist of harem anime tropes that get marked off as the game progresses which varies from accidentally falling face-first in someone’s crotch, cute bathing scenes, shopping trips, dressing up, etc.
The two catgirls are cute, with just enough one-note character traits to make each feel distinct. One is innocent and clumsy, the other is devious and cunning. None of the characters experience any development. The game explores themes of true love, love triangles, and the woes of being a sad working class cuntface.
SOUND EFFECTS AND VOICE ACTING (SFX)
Neko Miko has full voice acting. The actresses playing Kaede and Ayame are so damn adorable it’s impossible to fault their performances. They convey the very essence of ‘moe’ while still giving a great performance in the sex scenes. Listening to the duo squeal as their pussies take cock can become off-putting.
Sound effects are limited. Typical effects include bustling streets, alarm clocks, etc. The game would have been better with a richer library of sounds, especially for the sex scenes.
MUSIC
The game contains nine pieces of original music. Each song has a different mood to reflect every kind of atmosphere. The limited number of songs means that certain songs are repeated a little too much.
Music in Neko Miko employs real instruments: Guitar, pianos, xylophone, wind instruments such as the flute, and the trumpet. Each track feels unique and enriches the experience. Songs do not loop and will stop if you take too long in a scene. Most songs have a frolic beat to them with a relaxing melody.
GAMEPLAY
Neko Miko is a visual novel game. Gameplay is limited to clicking the screen to “turn the pages”, and making the occasional branching choice. Choices determine which cutie you get to fuck. The choices do not affect the plot much. Replaying the game to make different choices unlocks more hentai scenes.
The game has basic visual novel functionality. There are enough save slots to help you backtrack your choices despite the limited content. There’s also a button to speed through parts of the dialogue you already read. There are enough save slots available. There is also a music gallery where you can listen to the soundtrack. You can replay sex scenes in the ‘Memory’ tab.
GRAPHICS
The art is top tier. The game is filled with beautifully detailed artwork.
Backgrounds reflect different times of day. Lighting is well utilized in scenes, shadows placed realistically across the backdrop. The world these characters inhabit looks inviting. Lines are generally thin and shadows are light. Colours are bright and vivid and mimic anime.
The character sprites for Ayame and Kaede are rendered in 2.5D with moving models that make tiny gestures while interacting with the player. This increases immersiveness and brings the characters to life. Each character has a list of facial expressions that they make in real time. The number of outfits is limited to one, the shrine maiden costume.
Sexual artwork is beautiful with emphasis placed on making Ayame and Kaede look as cute as possible. The artwork is rich and sexy with certain CGs taking inspiration from hentai anime.
HENTAI
Sex in Neko Miko feels strange. The emphasis is on moe-ness. The neko girls are portrayed as shy and inexperienced in sex, but willing to take your load in their mouths or pussy if it makes you happy. Their dialogue highlights their cuteness and youth. The dialogue is lewd and stimulating with enough descriptive text. H-scenes are the perfect length.
The number of artworks per scene is very limited. Each CG features only the sexiest of angles to showcase the girls. The CGs have variants that show the progression of the scenes. Ayame’s mouth alters between licking a cock and taking it in her mouth. Kaede’s skin becomes sweatier as the scene continues. The pillow underneath her becomes stained.
One of my favorite scenes featured Kaede. She was feeling uncertain why she feels aroused near you and takes the opportunity to hump your pillow while you’re not there. She drops her clothes and begins riding the pillow. Sweat drops as she stains the pillow with her juices. In another of my favorite scenes, Ayame offers to suck your cock, but has no idea how to, so you guide her.
CONCLUDING WORDS
Neko Miko is a fun sexual adventure if you like cat girls, and shrine maidens. It’s a perfect example of moe hentai done right. The soundtrack is competent and the voice acting has some great moments. The story isn’t anything special, robbing tried-and-true ideas from anime shows, but it sets up an engaging premise for the ensuing fuckfest.
