I first played Cunt Wars in 2018, took a break in 2020, resumed in 2023. I roam league 1 where the whales swim.
I have seen what cards are worth investing into. Though there’s still one league above mine, it’s basically millionaire’s club, so fuck ’em. By taking my advise in this post, you too should reach higher leagues and unlock their rewards. If you’re a newbie player, absolutely read my writeup how to advance in Cunt Wars. Discover my official review of Cunt Wars.
This being a free-to-play title, I know you wanna get results cheaply. This post will help you get there. You can also discover my thoughts from years ago on the best rare cards. Balance changes have been few, so it’s still a worthy read. And if you want a list of League 1 viable epic cards, read my list.
If you’re a new player or curious to get started, I recommend you give Cunt Wars a chance, as you may happily play for years like I have. But, if you’re in the market for a competitive card game with complexity, depth and a very different design philosophy, then absolutely read my review of Neostesia 2200, as it’s the exact opposite of Cunt Wars.
Since restarting, I’ve been watching for months what high-end players are putting in their decks these days, and noticed a striking number of common and rare cards. The mechanic that allows almost anything to be ladder-viable is reborn.
When you reborn a card, its level is reset. You can level it up again. Because commons and rares are so much more accessible than legendaries, upgrading them to huge power levels is easy. Here’s what I’ve seen:
Chances are, you’re struggling against Athena. Since the game was launched, this broken card has been around. But fear not, direct counters to Athena are cheap, accessible and powerful. Include in your deck both Scarecrow and Dark Witch.
When Athena triggers her summon ability, just play Dark Witch or Scarecrow and her entourage dies.
Shinobi is the most underrated card ever. I’ve seen bulky Shinobis with over 200 attack and more than 100 health. My Shinobi is not even close to upgraded that much, but I get the logic. He is one of the highest attack-value common cards, able to snipe practically anything. There are very few cards that wipe Mental Shield before attacking, making him hard to trade with. Unless they’re very high powered, a high-level Shinobi’s health can survive the shot after losing Mental Shield.
Cat Lady, when reborn enough times, gets not only a massive body, but her healing ability swings a damage race. She does something that few other cards do. When she comes to play, she grants a big chunk of healing to your warlord and more healing on consecutive turns. I have seen Cat Ladies with over 150 attack and health.
Clever Viper is one of the only ways to deal with some openers, like when an enemy puts Justia, Law Goddess behind a rock. Justia is a ridiculously overpowered card that many players use at the highest levels. Playing Clever Viper, you may still end up rolling the unlucky dice, if your enemy has any minions cluttering the board, like Order players usually have. Regardless, I’ve seen this card a few times, meaning some players must’ve found ways to integrate her into a reliable strategy.
Warrioress is a common card you’d surely not expect in high-level games. But to my astonishment, I have seen her. Being common, she is cheap to upgrade, which also powers up her archer companion. What’s notable about this card is that the archer has pierce. There are many situations where that lets you snipe a straggler. Warrioress also provides two triggers to Legion, the God of War, which is the most retardedly overpowered card I have ever seen in any card game ever.
It’s because of Legion that I imagine most players just ragequit the game, because everyone plays him. In league 1, he is included in over half the decks. Because of his miserable existence, you want to include several cards that let you sweep Order. Kill every single Order minion on sight, diminishing the number of triggers Legion gets.
Lizardfolk is a card I haven’t seen played, but would personally love to see, because what’s being ignored about him is that when properly upgraded, he creates three death runes in one line. That’s right, you’ll have free access to your opponent’s face, as death runes instantly kill newly summoned minions. The enemy can block Lizardfolk’s attacks with a minion who’s got Mental Shield or Immune. Your game plan to break out of your league could be upgrading Lizardfolk to get cheesy wins.
I’m not shitting you, some people actually play Archer in league 1. While this card looks like the most mundane thing ever, both her abilities are powerful, plus her stats get bulky. Other common ranger cards I have seen played include Raven, Dryad and Love Lady. While these common ranged cards have practically no abilities, they get massive bodies at higher levels.
Chiropteran is another rare card that deals well with low level Athenas. You play him before your opponent has played Athena, he aborts her minions as they are born, also denying triggers to Legion.
Naga is an incredible common card through and through. But her double strike is not the actual reason players include her in top decks. What makes her amazing is her hilariously high health pool. If your opponent ignores Naga and you throw Aphrodite on the table, you can deal so much damage, the match could end right there.
Immortal Warrior. I’ve seen this guy as well, because Order-heavy decks are popular. He gives an instant damage buff to all Order minions and also gains life when Order minions appear. The ones I’ve seen played had almost 300 base health.
I’ll cut this post here. The point I wished to make is made. You can turn almost any cards into powerhouses, if you build the rest of your strategy to be cohesive with those choices. You’ll also want to abuse the occasional event that boosts your conversion of gems to gold. Wait for the event that lets you convert 500 gems into 200k gold, then go crazy with reborns.
And as you might expect, here’s a sexy animated banner just inviting your finger for a fling. Your harem is waiting…
