This past year, I have been playing a magnitude of eroges on my mobile phone due to a lack of access to a personal computer. At first, it felt rough and uncomfortable but with time, I got used to it and even ended up finding erogaming on my phone convenient.
The software that I use to play eroges on my phone is called JoiPlay. JoiPlay is a game interpreter and launcher for RPG Maker XP/VX/VX Ace/MV/MZ, Ren’Py, TyranoBuilder, and HTML based games. It technically is not an emulator as it does not emulate Windows or any operating system but for ease of purpose you may be called one.
Here are the steps on how to start using JoiPlay to play eroges on your phone:
- Open Google Play Store and look for “JoiPlay”.
- Install it.
- Look for “Ren’py Plugin for JoiPlay” and “RPG Maker Plugin for JoiPlay”, also install them.
- Open JoiPlay, you are set to go.
- Click the “+” button on the bottom right corner to add a game, a rather self-explanatory menu will appear.
- Set a name and browse for the game executable file (.exe file) on your phone, the game version and icon tab is optional and not mandatory.
- Once you’re done doing the steps above, click “ADD”, JoiPlay will then begin extracting the game executable file, and once it’s done, the game shortcut will be available to run on JoiPlay
- You’re done! Click on the shortcut to launch the game!

Due to limitations, not all games might work, estimated JoiPlay game compatibility is 70% for RPG Maker games and 90% for other game types. Game compatibility is affected by usage of native libraries, win32api and Node.js modules.
