STORY

There are 20 unique characters in the story, all fully voiced. However, none of these characters are really developed. There’s a woman running a dance studio, an old lady selling yukatas, an old man selling office supplies, each illustrated in unique artwork but with nothing truly unique about them, to make them memorable.

The three protagonists are Satoru, Mio, and Hitomi, and they are as bland as the side cast. Satoru is the male office worker with no role except in the beginning and ending. Mio has orange hair and is the grand daughter of the office supply guy. Hitomi has long black hair and is the strong-willed busty babe. There’s little else I can describe about these shallow characters.

The title of this game makes no sense whatsoever. The prologue drops all 20 characters on you back to back. And there is no plot outside of visiting various businesses and helping them drum up interest. Nude modeling for an artist, dancing in a studio, walking around in a mascot outfit, and so on.

The story climaxes when Mio and Hitomi are brutalized by the gang opposing the shopping street. The gang wants to demolish this street and make it a shopping mall. Only after the girls are hospitalized, does Satoru finally take action to expose and defeat the Motomura gang once and for all – that’ it. There are no twists or turns or interesting plot developments.

GAMEPLAY

Appointment of Pandora was created in RPG Maker MV. Press W to skip dialogue. Press Z to attack. Press W to heal. Press Q to swap characters.

The gameplay is best classified as an action RPG. Battles occur in real time as you walk up to enemies and press Z. Your style of attack depends on your equipment. Long range or short range, high damage or low damage, the choice is yours. Mio and Hitomi use their weapons in different ways, so feel free to mix and match to find which loadout works best.

At first you’re beating up bugs in the office, but by the end of the game you’re beating up burly men, as a petite girl. The problem is, the story always scripts your defeat. You can one-shot every enemy, but the cutscene always shows the girls stripped down and defeated. It’s very disorienting.

There are five main stats. Offense, Defense, Healing, HP, and MP. However, you never need to grind since the game is so easy. And since all these enemies do is walk up to you to strike, there isn’t much strategy needed.

The game takes 2-3 hours depending how fast you read and whether or not you grind levels. You shouldn’t need to, but some players love maxing out. Safe to say, you’ll see everything this game has to offer after the first 10 minutes. The weak scripting of enemy behavior really hampers the experience.

GRAPHICS

Although the art emulates the Japanese anime style, heavy emphasis is placed on a 3D representation of the characters. Often times a scene will have multiple artworks to cover angles from below and above. And due to actions like dancing and climbing, the characters are drawn to really feel fully developed.

Hitomi and Mio have 8 outfits to choose from, each with its own unique stat boosters. One outfit makes you move super fast, while another outfit boosts defense. Wearing different clothes changes the pixel art of the characters, which varies as it becomes damaged or is slowly removed.

Visually, the game is phenomenal. There are 25 background images and 14 scenes total. Each scene has multiple unique CGs and variation images. There are around 40 unique CGs total. Each scene offers tons of variety and anticipation for what comes next.

The only negative aspect of the visuals is the character sprites. They’re super small and don’t match the stock assets used throughout the game. A simple couch looks enormous compared to the tiny sprites. And although the heads are large enough to be expressive, the bodies are smaller and less individualistic.

VOICE ACTING AND SOUND EFFECTS (SFX)

Appointment of Pandora has no voice acting.

The developer uses stock assets and very limited sound effects. While combat is serviceable in conveying the impact of your actions, the sex scenes are neglected. Like when a fresh cock is finally inserted into Nishina’s pussy, there isn’t even a sound effect to match it! The lack of an insertion sound effect is a prime example of the wide range of missed opportunities this game had in its sound design.

MUSIC

The music of this game is downright fantastic! From the moment you start, the main menu theme comes at you with a funky guitar beat that gets you super excited for the ride. These unique tracks will feel iconic by the end of things, as the upbeat but relaxed soundtrack perfectly conveys the ecchi nature of the characters and the city. The downside being, tracks often repeat or are resampled to sound virtually identical. The differences are noticeable, but the core melody remains the same.

There are 68 tracks in total. While the main tracks rely on guitar and bass, the miscellaneous tracks are digitally synthesized with cymbals and drums to create an action-rpg appeal. The primary track of the game is named Boukyaku, and its probably the greatest music track in a hentai game, ever. The only game with competing music is probably Beat Blades Haruka, and that game is a legend!

HENTAI

There are 14 scenes in total, each with multiple unique CG images to create engaging and varied erotic experiences. The vast majority of the game is ecchi content focused on the girls accidentally losing their clothes. The latter half of the game focuses on public exposure as the girls are completely nude in front of crowds of people. The climax features one vaginal sex scene for each girl.

Mio and Hitomi are total hotties, but the scenes don’t capitalize on their differences. While a game like “Perfect Service Guild” had two female protagonists in a “dom and sub” role, this game treats the two girls almost identically. They both get embarrassed and ashamed when undressed, there’s nothing distinct about either girl.

Humiliation and degradation are nice, but the lack of consequences for your actions makes things feel lame. NPCs always give the same dialogue, so it never feels like your exhibitionism had any effect on the world.

Saving vaginal sex for the endgame means that impatient players may not make it that far. It also means your favorite sex position is probably not in the game, and erotic dialogue always boils down to lines like “I am so embarrassed”. If the clothing removal was animated, that would have really made up for the lack of sex.

Regardless, these scenes are incredibly hot. Like when Mio pretends to be a Mannequin and someone undresses her! Or when the mascot outfit is too hot, Hitomi is completely nude underneath it! The most memorable scene for me was when Hitomi joined a wrestling tournament and got fucked on stage while everyone saw!

CONCLUDING WORDS

Appointment of Pandora is a gorgeous porn game with tons of sexy anime character art and vivid background imagery. The action RPG gameplay is fun, the music is fantastic, and the lewd scenes are super erotic! The weak story makes this a game good for a sloppy fap, but perhaps not for a replay.
